doing weekly savage clears, o5s, and one healer dc's a couple seconds into the fight. they don't come back until after the train car bit... i don't think anybody died either during their absence and we still managed to one shot it... props to our other healer.

I can sort of understand what winsock was saying about some DPS doesn't help during a pull. But DPS during a pull is generally far more often useful, than not. If you use something like Assize, for example, on 3 mobs instead of waiting for the pull to finish with, like, 7 mobs then it was fairly pointless to have used Assize when you did. But that's mostly about maximizing DPS, rather than it the dps is useless or not.

That all aside, a tank can easily hold hate during a pull. If you notice someone "going ham" just use Shield Lob (or equivalent) on the target taking the punishment. If AoE is going out try flashing again or something. It's not the hard.

Why do astros not give out balances to a dps who is proforming everything they are posed to do? It seriously makes me wanna stop aoeing, stop doing my rotation and everything I was told to do as a good dps. It grinds my gears that much.

The other dps and being on PS4 I can't say what they were doing. But It's not the first time it's happened but to get no cards at all? Like if I'm messing up tell me.. but I'm doing my aoes, doing my rotations not being lazy.. so why can't I have balances too? T.T

If it's happening regularly I'd say maybe hit a SSS dummy a bit or get a friend to parse you? I'm not saying you're definitely the problem, I've never played with you, but when I'm on AST I give cards to whatever DPS in 4 mans seems like they're going to do the most damage. At least if you knew you were doing good DPS you could rule that out so you don't have to worry about it.

The only othrr thing I can think of is some classes just have more DPS capability than others. If you've got a BLM and a RDM and don't have a parser or know enough about either to judge if they're doing well a smart AST will give the BLM the cards since chances are they're doing more damage.

It's not a popularity contest. Even I tend to give out cards to the most effective person at the time. Just because you may or may not be doing your rotations optimally doesn't mean a co-dps might not be out dpsing you on the basis of job difference. Summoner AoE in particular is very strong when done right.

I do throw cards to the other dps even if they might not be doing so well if I have spares from sleeve draw, particularly in case of situations like your grinding gears. I knew people react this way. if you stopped aoeing in my party you'd never get a card again. I see a dps every so often where their TP bar doesn't even budge in large pulls. Do you really think someone who isn't aoeing is worth giving a card to in aoe situations?

When I'm on AST, I find that more often than not I send balance cards to casters first, primarily SMN and BLM first. So if you're in a party with a SMN or a BLM, and I'm on AST, the caster will get it before you because it's my understanding that SMN and BLM have more DPS capabilities than MNK (not that there's anything wrong with MNK). It's nothing against the melee, it's just that I've always been told that Balance goes to SMN or BLM first.

Idk about you guys but a lot of the time when I ast pugs I give extended dps increase cards to the second best dps while chanting "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT".
