the devs have answered this question somewhat - the reason you cant rebuy mogstation items from the calamity salvager is because that npc's items are tied to acheivements. since buying from the mogstation is not an acheivement and has nothing attached to it that makes it difficult. basically you just have to be more careful with your purchases.

I knew it was something like that. However, I do believe there's no reason we can't have a single NPC dedicated to Mog Station purchases. QoL and all that~
