Thank you so much! I didn't know about this.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/46936
It's really old, though, but this is the poll being referred to.
I believe the one in Namai lives with his mother. I don't know if she appears on the cutscenes because the civil Lupines always dresses the same so far, only one with different clothes was the one from All Saint's Wake.Have we seen any female Lupin yet; I don't recall unless I missed them somehow.
I don't believe they are to interested in that to be honest. If event gear and emote rewards are anything to go by, the theme and setting of this game speaks loud, proud, and clear to the Japanese cute culture fans. The poll thread also has this line,
Which should always be something to be wary about, especially when it comes to an apparently beloved race like the Viera (and it doesn't help that there is a "cute child-like" concept of them, which even has Viera fans arguing/disagreeing amongst each other).
If Viera were to be playable at some point, then I'm hoping the next playable race will at least be something like the Lupin. Throw in something different and original into the basket SE, come on.

I want adult Viera models, the idea of children as a player character race is abhorrent to me.
I rather stay with the small and cute concept versions. Vieras are too sacred to be butchered by XIV's nonsense limitations. Vieras wear high heel footwear and other specifics that will not transition into this game since everything shares the same body. You may as well bunny ears and call yourself a Viera because that's exactly what they'll be.
Leave that beautiful race out of this game and get some work done with the current Character Creation.
If they make Viera the next race, they better have male Viera. I'm not supporting a all female race. We had similar s*** like that in FFXI...I don't want that again in XIV.

Such an irony when you are pretty much a hume with demon horn and tail aka all obtainable in Gold Saucer.I rather stay with the small and cute concept versions. Vieras are too sacred to be butchered by XIV's nonsense limitations. Vieras wear high heel footwear and other specifics that will not transition into this game since everything shares the same body. You may as well bunny ears and call yourself a Viera because that's exactly what they'll be.
I doubt they would add any race without both genders being an option. They even added Female Roes and Male Miqo'te
Casual reminder that Au Ra looked different in concept and got changed up before they made it into the game.
Veira won't look like the Veira people want. And if we get a cutesy one I'll personally make one just to irritate the people that want tough ones.
