This is not a factor with the totem systemHappens all the time, some players even just role on it as they are hoarders and want everything just to say they got it.
Everyone is allowed to roll though, as it should be.
Well not entirely true, this game has one of the worst rng systems ever. Some players needing to run 40 times while others can get a drop in 1 or 2 runs.
Arguements people always make about just make a group to me is weak, the point being one should not need to get a group together as that is the only way you can get your drop.
I have been playing this game for over 4 years and i guess got used to having bad luck but still pisses me off, lol
I want to know: why would you want to deny someone a greed roll when they spent time and effort with you just because they don't have a job leveled for it? Knowing how RNG works, what happens when in your next run, mnk weapon drops again? "Sorry Bob, I know you pitched in with all of us to clear this but I can't let you compete with 7 other people fairly for the loot cuz we spent time and effort leveling mnk and you didn't, even though you could spend the next couple of days capping it."
Wow, just wow.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
By extension: Why would you want to deny someone a Need roll when they spent time and effort with you just because they didn't come as the job that can roll Need?
You can really use the same arguments - You can even scratch the "maybe" and "could" as far as leveling the jobs that can use it is concerned, because they already have them.
The entire idea behind Need/Greed is long since outdated and pointless, because people roll "Need" for all the same reasons they roll "Greed". The only reason to even make that distinction is because you consider some uses for items more legitimate than others, otherwise everyone's claim is worth the same and if everyone's claim is worth the same, there is no reason to discriminate between them.
It's just an old, bad and arbitrary system overall.
Worst idea in a long time.Greetings,
Like many others, I've been doing the Byakko Ex primal. Doing so I noticed a flaw in the Greed system that I believe should be addressed.
A Monk weapon drops and we don't have a Monk in the group. Naturally everyone Greeds on it. However, the person who won said Monk item did not even have the monk job even unlocked.
I propose a 3 tiered loot system. Need, Greed-Usable, Pure Greed, and Pass. Greed-Usable would get preference over Pure Greed. This rewards those who have put in the time and effort of leveling various classes over those who have not.
In my humble opinion, someone who can't use an item should not be able to roll over someone who can use the item.
Because the system was designed with need = be on that job, this isn't SenorPatty denying anyone anything, but OP is the one wanting to deny people of greed rolls. If your alt is poorly geared to do Byakko then you have totems to solve that.
The system itself is fine and doesn't need adjustment, yeah its a bit annoying to see an item you could use go to someone who literally can't, but ultimately its a minor inconvenience at best.
Personally, if I can't or just won't make use of the item, I pass, let other people make better use of it than me, but some people just want loot, regardless whether or not its actually usable by them.
Thats a completly different scenario though - everyone can roll "Need" on the sigma-tokens since they're not job-specific and everyone, well, "needs" them.
OP was complaining about someone being able to roll Greed on a job-specific item (a weapon, for example) without having that job leveled (or touched. or at a level the OP considers high enough to "allow" someone to roll on the weapon).
Specifically in Byakko (or any other Post-ARR primal) thats a non issue, thanks to the guraanted token-drops directly into your inventory that will allow you to get whatever you desire from said content.
Your "problem" has been discussed in other threads alreadyMaybe better not to mix the both but to stay on topic

This had an argument back in ARR when totems didn't exist and if your gear never dropped then too bad, nowadays you have totems. Sure, it sucks when someone without the job even unlocked takes it but it's fair but they can still make use out of it for desynth or seals, or I dont know maybe it"ll push them to level the job.
Sorry dont think the whole loot system should be overhauled because you're salty at losing a roll.
At least the person without MNK at 70 has an excuse. If you wanted the fists and have your MNK levelled up, why didn't you do the fight as one? You have no more a right to the piece than anyone else does, hence the ffa nature of greed.
Get over it.
