playing skyrim, waiting on 1.20... then prolly 1.21... and if that doesn't go so well maybe just wait on 2.0
Can't deny hard numbers. SWTOR has over 825k in pre-sale orders the week ending Nov. 19 (with still 5 weeks to go before launch!). That's more sales than even Rift had on its opening day.

But even if FFXIV was still free to play, I don't think that would change anything.
Ultimately, it comes down to the 2.0 relaunch no matter what. Either that's going to be good enough for FFXIV to claim the necessary following, or it will perish. We've known this for some time now.

I'm not really sure. I want it too, and I hope it does. Though recently Yoshi-Ps vision of skip skip skip to the end and complete all there is to do quickly isn't what I want to do. I'm tired of skipping and being teleported. I want immersion, exploration, and most of all have fun. We don't have that right now.
I want this too, but sadly "It's 2011, don't live in the past."I'm not really sure. I want it too, and I hope it does. DCU had over 1mil pre orders and it just went f2p cuz it sucked
also NDA is funny, ive been breaking it for a year, i wont lie, star wars sucks as an mmo, and anyone who looks at it and isnt such a die hard star wars fan they arent blind can see it
finaly, the 2 games are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GENRES
star wars fans and final fantasy type fans are 2 completely different types of people
people wanting a sci fi mmo arent gonna care about fantasy mmos and so on

I am playing the SWTOR beta this weekend and it is amazing. The quests and story line flow like a river of chocolate. I have been a fan of FF since Nintendo but I do not think XIV will see the success of XI due to the bad rep it has currently. It will have a decent fan base at launch but unless they have a Marketing Campaign that blows the neighsayers away it will peak at launch. Most of the people I talk to at my local video game store do not even care that XIV is even being rebuilt even after I explain to them all of the changes being made.i can't decide whether or not to start playing again, and now that i've played certain betas -cough- swtor -cough- I can realllllly see a difference.
I haven't really been paying attention to all the new updates or what has been going on with 2.0 since it was announced.
So from what you've been hearing, do you think the games going to drastically improve?
also now that the non-disclosure part of SWTOR for this weekend has been lifted. If you've played it, do you think FF will manage to compete with it?
edit: I'm also kinda skeptical about paying for an uncompleted beta.
Robert Downey Jr said it best...
"I'm The Dude Playing the Dude Disguised as Another Dude"
It's an MMO, let people be whoever they want to be.

You would never catch me with a flippin light saber in my hands.
evert fantasy game has some type of furry creature in the game, wether or not you play it
the fact is, its still fantasy as opposed to sci fi
not everyone wants to run around with futuristic weapons, they want the fantasy setting
same thing goes for super hero and non fiction type games, we dont want realism and real life, or superheroes either
we want fantasy
