Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

Why. Why must you keep raising this double weakness thread.

-Because people like Viera a whole bunch.
-It's better than making a new thread every month.
-Yoshi-P and team aren't opposed, but have had other priorities and told us fans to keep interest going if we want a Viera-like race.

I can only hope Viera are referenced the next arc of the Ivalice raid. Seeing as Ba'Gamnan and his crew are around, we could very well see them soon.

We are already connected to FF12 and FFT world, viera seems to make sense.

Not connected. We just have an Ivalice that just so happens to be similar to the one in those two games.

If they didnt connect FF14 to above two worlds I would against the idea.
Since we are now connected, they should exist somewhere in FF14 world

-And last I checked Yoshi-P wasn't really keen on the idea. It originally started as a part of a poll a LONG time ago where Viera was cited as an example of a new type of race players might want. Neither Yoshi-P or the devs ever said anything about adding Vieras.

There wouldn't even really be any point. The only way they would look remotely unique is if they were added exactly as the concept art depicted, as was the case with Au'Ra, you would NOT be getting what they showed us with the concept art. That race already proved they're not willing to redesign every piece of gear in the game to fit a race with a different frame (their feet is the only thing unique about them). At the end of the day you'd get another Miqote race with slightly larger ears and no tail. Even the large ears I'm having doubts over them implementing correctly for the same reason they won't give us any actual long hairstyles.

Everyone I know personally in game is pro viera. I don't know how you got the idea of minority. Sounds pretty subjective to me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So? Just because you're satisfied with playing the most popular race doesn't mean those of us left should put up and shut up. It's fine if you don't personally like Viera, no one will force you to play one or any original race resembling them.

You also miss the very first post and most conversation; Viera designs were drafted as an Au Ra possible design in Heavensward's early docs. It's all in Scale and Steel's last chapter, which lists a whole slew of Viera and our demonic Au Ra..

Basically is was nearly a Mithra/Miqo'te sort of situation, but the devs opted to instead make the first new race of FFXIV be original to the game verses a lifted remake as all other races we have are.

The poll thread also has this line,

Ours being a Japanese game, the result seems to tell us that players are prioritizing cuteness, something which I noted with great interest.

Which should always be something to be wary about, especially when it comes to an apparently beloved race like the Viera (and it doesn't help that there is a "cute child-like" concept of them, which even has Viera fans arguing/disagreeing amongst each other).
If Viera were to be playable at some point, then I'm hoping the next playable race will at least be something like the Lupin. Throw in something different and original into the basket SE, come on.

Male Lupins and female Viera? Have we seen any female Lupin yet; I don't recall unless I missed them somehow. Anyways, I wouldn't mind if things turned out this way so long as Viera look as similar as possible to their FFXII counterparts; elegant and beautiful. I wouldn't mind if Yoshida used the cute little bunny Viera concept art as a second clan like how the mid and highlanders are displayed. It would give some really unique diversity in another race's clan that we desperetly need for the others due to the lack diversity between them all besides a few minor differences. Keepers of the Moon Miqo'te could have been one of our more beastial clan races while Seekers of the Sun could have been their opposite, as an example.
