There's enough housing, just need to change servers for it or risk the bigger population servers. After trying on Balmung since 2.0 I finally got a personal, when i didn't i didn't blame the developers though, it's literally my own to blame for staying on a huge server. If you want a house that bad perhaps change.

Levi has no plots left and then if one opens up you have to have no life to sit and camp with 3+ other people camping as well. This is a horrid system for bigger servers.

I was finally able to get a house (after more then 3 years unable to) on Levi. I got up early in the morning before work. I was surprised not many people were around.
But i do agree that the system is bad and should still have instanced housing as an option

Instanced housing exists. It's called an apartment or Free Company room. Few people want it because the spaces are too small to change into something that feels like a home.

What SE needs to do is add size options to the instanced housing. Few of my friends care about gardening or the exterior of their houses. They do care about having interior spaces large enough to decorate effectively which is why they chose to buy a house. Create apartments 4-5 times the size of the current apartments (about the same size as 2 floors of a medium house) and they'd be happy to switch. Add on a greenhouse style patio area for the illusion of an outdoor space and there would be even more interested players.

I am aware of that as i also have an apartment, i mean more along the lines of full size instanced housing like that of Eso or such.
This way most if not all players can actually have a home, not wait for more wards and cross your fingers you could get something.
Your suggestions i could also agree with, something needs to be done other then just add more wards

Bad design is bad design - that's not the players' problem.

I actually like the solution they've put in to deter people from selling houses, they just need to fix the UI so that people don't have to run around like headless chickens checking every plot that looks empty to see if it's actually purchasable. It's up there with the market wards from 1.0 where you had to go in and check each retainer to see if it had the item you wanted. Just mark them as unavailable in the UI and problem solved on that front.

As for nuking - most people seem to agree that the small houses suck. Nuking the wards and starting again would allow SE to provide bigger houses for more people. They could also use a system that doesn't rely on having a set number of plots. Separate FC and personal housing while they're at it.

Everyone on the server should be able to have a house if they wish to - there is no valid argument against that so don't try.

Funny they do show the plots so they don't have to go running around like a chicken with out a head. When selecting wards they can see plots and status just like in RL you look at listings then go check them out.

You call it poor design I call it most people are broke regardless who still complain gill is hard to come by.

Housing is an optional content and if people join FC they have some options as well. Apartments are also optional and inn rooms are provided as well so players can rest and accumulate rest xp bonus. SE takes into consideration accounts not being active so its only a waste of resources as well. Holding houses for inactive accounts even if they don't pay is just a poor business decision. Why maintain account that have been inactive or don't pay? SE warns when houses are going to be demolish via email and gives options. It's not SE fault if people don't check their email it's an internet based business. In most cases people buy houses and don't fully understand the consequences of being inactive.

So yes there is a valid argument, and just like a real home guess what if you don't pay your mortgage/rent you get evicted, you don't pay your taxed you get a lean, ect. Sorry landlord I went on vacation I don't need to pay rent does not cut it.

Overall people need to take initiative when adding wards, request time off from work, have gill saved up, ect. I was able to flip houses back and forth in Balmung of all servers so it was not difficult to get a home for those of us that think outside the box. SE said fine people complain we will make it harder because FC's should get priority, their was a way around to get personal home. Now their still plots available and people still complain. It's not big enough, it's not facing the correct direction, blah blah blah. If people want to play house their always The sims.
