Thanks for the info. This Quigg character really knows his stuff! /Brofist

A day and a half later... Still over 1/2 the plots unclaimed in my subdivision. So, there are still lots of housing opportunities left on some servers.

I've thought about transferring as I have no ties to Ragnarok due to being a returning player, but that is simply not the solution to the housing problem. If I was in a decent FC with lots of people I play with regularly I wouldn't dream of leaving the server for a house and you aren't going to have any luck convincing 50+ people or however large your FC is to go with you.
Transferring is only viable during free periods too because the gil caps make it next to impossible for a longtime player to transfer during normal times. That limits which servers you can pick as well. But I guess the same people who say you should transfer for a house are the same people who would say you should transfer and lose 90% of your gil because you're on a new world.

But then the preferred worlds limitation is set to send you to worlds with low population, thus easier to get a house. Where you can start with all your money and do your own thing...Transferring is only viable during free periods too because the gil caps make it next to impossible for a longtime player to transfer during normal times. If you say so.

You got the last bit right. Do your own thing - because you've left all your mates behind and joined a server with no active FCs. If I were to transfer it would be to a medium population server where I'd be forced to convert all my gil to crafting materials/materia and then back again afterwards. That was about two weeks of faff last time around and I have almost three times the gil now. Not worth the effort.
I think we're getting off topic here anyway. The real problem is the lack of housing. I accept that you don't want more because you want to be a special snowflake having something other people can't have, let's just leave it at that.

Cross Server PF is a thing. You're the one who wants housing in a place that is flooded with people with similar goals, vs going to other places where its available. You got the last bit right. At least you're doing you.
If you say so.
Please, no uses cross server party finder to play with their ex-FCs in any serious capacity besides plugging in a last slot. Also, these worlds are meant to be populated, otherwise they feel dead. Lack of housing on populated servers is a dev oversight at best and apathy at worst. Why wouldn't they want to accommodate these majority communities? Coming from Cactuar and other smaller/medium servers, there really is no comparison to the diverse and active communities on the large servers. If you want to play a solo game with some MMO aspects, by all means go small/medium worlds. If you want a long term experience with plenty of social interaction, populated servers are where it's at.
Most servers still have some housing available for purchase, doesn't that kind of make you wanting more housing the special snowflake?
