My Blacklist was so huge at one point. I went to go prune it a month ago and noticed a whole whack load of 'Unknowns'. I'm assuming those were deleted toons, though I wonder if one name changes does it circumvent the blacklist?

I find it amusing that someone who has you blacklisted won't see anything you say, but you can see anything they say. Even more amusing when both parties in question are both active hunters, so in other words, I get everything they relay, but they never see anything I relay...joke's on them.

Blacklisting is pretty much useless. The term itself is deceptive, giving people the illusion that it offers far more than it really does.
You have to be on friend list to even be a potential mail recipient, and blacklisting friends should only happen very infrequently. It would probably serve players better if we could just remove them from both flists instead.
It does not block you from DF matchups, or 3rd party PFs. They can't join your PFs, and you won't see anything in the char log by them, all of which are functionally useless band-aid remedies.

Yeah on Tibia system is better. When you send a tell on tibia for a person that ignored/blacklisted you appears the message ''Unable to send tell because that player have add you to the ignored list''. Also, if I'm not wrong but I think that if you have add a person on the blacklist you can't trade items with them on ff xiv. And they will receive some message if they are trying to trade with you too, like unable to trade something like this. Yeah the blacklist would be better if atleast appears a message when you go on the PF and says ''That party have a person that is on your blacklist'' this would avoid so many PF problems would be great. I also like the idea for we not being able to match on df people that we have add to the blacklist or the people that have blacklisted us.

As far as I can tell, none of their messages get through to you (so they can talk to a wall), and if you're in a linkshell with them, you don't see their messages. I do wish it would give them a message though, like "you have been blacklisted for being a piece of goobbue shite"

    Ah well...

(Unable to retrieve) means the toon was either deleted or server jumped.

Name changing doesn't aid in circumventing anything. It will update the name on Blist, as well as anything else.

What Blacklisting needs to do is erase a player from existence on our clients. The issues with it now is that it's likely too much to process that beyond muting them.
