My point in referencing XI is that the poster I quoted was making it sound as if AF was still locked in XI, and it isn't.

I don't think we can claim whether or not unlocking AF would be considered fan service or not seeing that their only other MMO has already gone that route. There isn't much background to form an opinion on, and I've not seen any official polls. However, all of the various FF bosses coming from other games, outfits, music, cross-over events, etc - they don't really help make Eorzea feel like it's own world. We just continue to borrow and implement from everywhere else. So yes, the fan service in this game is insanely high. Letting people cross-job glamour seems quite minor when you take into account everything else already in game.
