My Opinion of the Little Ladies Day Event

Most female characters in this game are males which is why they are dressed so skimpy. To say that males get nothing is amusing.

Male avatars, not male players. There's a huge distinction, lol.

I believe the overall split is roughly 50/50 in regards to the amount of male and female playable characters across all regions.

It's about 50/50, but to be exact, the male characters are about 5-6% higher, so not a very significant number but still sizeable. (even if they are all male Hyur midlander gilbots )

Almost all ff male protagonists looks like a woman with the exception of old age Noctis (my favorite).

The only one who you would have an argument against for looking like a "woman" is Cecil. Please go to your nearest Specsavers.

It's enough to argue that the players playing male characters are treated unequally and that's not right regardless of who they are in real life.

While I agree that it shouldn't matter who is behind the character because everyone should be getting equal treatment by default, every. single. time. this comes up, I see people slyly trying to twist it so it comes off like the people asking for fair treatment for male characters are just a bunch of Guys Whining Because They're Not The Center of Attention, and it really gets my goat.

I could also argue that we know the deveoper's intentions pretty well by now; they've got a laundry list of past snubs towards male characters that only got longer with SB's release, and which I have no doubt will continue to grow no matter how much noise we make.

I do actually really like Little Ladies' Day, though, and feel the TC's annoyance with it is misdirected (especially considering it's the one event to consistently not screw male characters over), but I can't help but agree with the sentiment.

After the slight hiccup with the Doll Festival, the M.H.M.U. decided to hold a festival that appealed to the male half of the adventuring population. We sought the advice of a distinguished samurai, and began preparing for the Feast of Swords, kupo.

You would get a wooden or bamboo sword depending on the year and then go out into one of the starting zones and whack an elvaan model wearing samurai armor until it died. The swords did almost no damage so there would be a giant crowd of people slapping it for quite some time. I was surprised when it never made it over to FFXIV considering every other holiday did.

Regardless as to whether or not you believe your gender is getting snubbed by this game, if any of you are worked up about it to rage on the forums where nothing constructive will come of it except to make you look like a fool, you need to take a step back and rethink your priorities. It's just a video game after all. And considering most of the development staff is men, I'm sure they're not man-haters. It's probably just easier for the art team to come up with equipment that looks better on women than men. If anyone feels like this is a problem with this game or the industry in general and feels that passionate about it, nothing except your motivation is stopping you from going out to getting an art degree and trying to find a job for a video game company.

Id like a male version event where we can ogle at cute male avatars and fight over which we like most. I'd also like a mandatory swimsuit competition for them, for story reasons of course.

Maybe that’ll be the ffxv crossover event. :P

I've never understood why XIV does have the boy's day event in it like XI does. Though concerning that even in Japan boys day there isn't a family heirloom that gets dragged out every year and maybe added to. Or bought for the male child in the house when they move or have a son. Like what tends to happen with the display stand and dolls the girls get for ladies day. Also the 1st two events of ladies day when the game relaunched were more about the dolls and a father's love for his daughter. I have a feeling that SE has made it into something like dancer event in XI once they introduced the stage troup. Which now seems to be having it's own continuing story line.

Have you seen Kain without his helm? Also i know i'm not the only one who thought the white mage from the 1st one was a chick until SE many years later came out and said all of the characters in the first one were guys. SE might not go directly the Bishonen route but a lot of the men have a female touch to them at least facially. It would be easier to list the FF male characters that even outside of the Amano drawings look like a guy than to list the ones that don't.

This holiday is just another way for SE (who obviously prefers females) to shower them with MORE praise.

Yet they treat boys and men like s**t. We don't get a holiday, we get shafted in terms of gear AND hairstyles. SE, not all guys want to wear ****ing dresses while playing a healer or caster job. And despite that glamour exists, there's not a lot of variety for men, yet women get all the best glamours, the best looking gear designs, AND a event just for them.

I'm not saying women don't deserve praise, they have done great things just like men have. But if you're gonna make a event just for ladies, make a event for the guys too. Give us more options as far as gear and glamour and hairstyles. Treat us as equals and stop prioritizing women over men for almost EVERYTHING in the game.

And this is why we can't have nice things, I just wanna do the event and rave but now we're talking about how men are marginalized in a game that doesn't even physically exist because it's pixels.

Y'all need to go outside more and start your own crusades for male and female pixel equality and maybe it'll change the world and we can all become cat girls one day.
