They should lock the option behind a £300 statue...

no. Restricting glams to jobs is one of the things about this game I dislike.
And the argument of "oh, it's lore!" is weak considering we have bikini clad tanks wearing chocobo mascot masks.
The glamour system should be reworked and any item placed in the dresser should become a level 1 jobless glam.
AF's need to be locked. I don't want to see a WAR wearing a WHM's AF or viceversa. Screw the lore, it's about a job's appearance.
I keep seeing this touted as the 'reason' why glamour class restrictions on armour should be removed and it is simply not true at all - swimwear is a classless costume that is by design meant to be worn regardless of what class or Job you happen to be. Artifact Armour (AF) on the other hand, is Job restricted for a reason, that is it's whole purpose, AF originated in FFXI, and the whole point of it both in FFXI and here in FFXIV is to allow the player to take on the traditional appearance of that Job from past FF games (such as WHM is a white robe with red triangles, DRG is purple draconic armour etc), which, if it could suddenly be worn by any Job, it wouldn't be depicting that Job's appearance now would it?no. Think of that Job's AF as it's uniform so to speak. Like how with Grand Companies you can only wear that GC equipment if you're actually enlisted in it, same as AF can only be worn if you happen to be that Job. And I'm glad Yoshi has stuck to his guns with this.
Wearing a bikini as a tank is one thing, as that is just a costume that has no connection to that class or Job. AF is that Job. Hence, it is glamour restricted as a result. And SE will not be changing this (Yoshi made his feelings on that clear back in the Beta, he did not want to destroy each Job's image by allowing cross Job equipping or glamour for it). And I see no signs he has changed his mind on this I'm sorry to say.
Sure if it let me use my healers gear and relic gear on my red mage for glamour.
No.

To be fair, the person you quoted never mentioned that AF gear should be unlocked, just that the “it’s lore” argument is weak when you consider how they use it as reasoning behind why tanks can’t wear robes, or healers wear full-plate armor.Artifact Armour (AF) on the other hand, is Job restricted for a reason, that is it's whole purpose, AF originated in FFXI, and the whole point of it both in FFXI and here in FFXIV is to allow the player to take on the traditional appearance of that Job from past FF games (such as WHM is a white robe with red triangles, DRG is purple draconic armour etc), which, if it could suddenly be worn by any Job, it wouldn't be depicting that Job's appearance now would it?
The only sets that should have job restricts are AF sets. Others should just be unlocked period. The devs destroyed any sense of “lore” with events like Yokai and the fact that tanks can tank mobs in bikinis (or in their small clothes), so lore is a pretty weak excuse.
Hell no, I refuse to pay 18 dollars for mog shop items, I'm not paying 50 for cross job glamour..I think if they did that it would piss a very large portion of the players off, enough to make a lot quit I suspect.
50$ for getting the devs to code one of the most demanded glam features into the game?
While you're at it OP, pls go back in time and request 50$ to pay for a glam dresser.
And then further back in time and request 50$ just to glam.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
