There is a difference in doing your job and it turning bad, and doing and bad job, knowing it is bad, being told it is bad, and then going ahead with it release it and expect to be payed and ask for a raise :/
don't get what you mean. they are trying a different way thats what is called V2.0, if you try something and it don't work. and try it again the same way and it didn't work again a second time, that would make you stupid for not learning from your mistakes. to try again doesn't mean you have to make the make mistakes
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
did you see wada pay check he got this year? chump change for selling broken products, its where the money is at.
oh i see, you have played V2.0, sorry i thought you was just spouting your opinion on something that is not even being tested yet, like it was gospel. if i had known you have all the inside info on how V2.0 has make the same mistakes as the game that was released a year ago, i would not have been so quick to dismiss you as a moron
yoshi - tanaka, 2 different ppl, 2 different plans, don't judge something you havn't tried

I personally dont see how Jump, AH and PVP has to be a musthave for MMOs. The reason i like this game over WoW, Rift, AoC, Swtor etc ive tried, is because FFxiv isnt as mainstream. I find WoW boring as heck these days, and SWtor is just an updated clone with lightsabers and better quest immersion and voiceacting.
Just cause 1 mmo doesnt have millions of subs, doesnt mean its a failure. It just suits players differently. WOW with its 10mill subs has the absolute worst community ive come across. And i really hate when PVP messes up the PVE experience since you can never balance abilities between the 2 unless you make PVP specific abilities you can only use in PVP situations and not in PVE.
I personally think FFXIV will be a success to the people who is looking for something a bit more different. If its not for you, then go play SWtor or whatever game suits your style. No need to come onto forums of games you dont play and call people names and throw out insults.
of course you don't thats what happens when your part of FF niche market scrub group of wana be mmo gamers that except half of what you should get. mario was able to jump, my char in ffxiv should be able to 15 years later also.I personally dont see how Jump, AH and PVP has to be a musthave for MMOs. Over a year into the game since I, after having been in beta, pre-ordered the collector's edition.
Will it get better? Yes, and that is why I am playing it.
"For those who have been in the beta of SWTOR will it compete?" I have been in the beta since closed this summer, and I won't be playing SWTOR at release.
- SWTOR has much more to do in it right now than FFXIV, no doubt.
- FFXIV has a lot more of stuff that I am personally interested in coming, and that is why I play it.
First of all I hope SWTOR does well because I own some EA stock and would love for it to be the next WoW. I don't play WoW though, and I won't be playing SWTOR either.
SWTOR has a great deal of story content, and in this area it is much like Bioware's recent single player games. Is it on par with the main quest in FFXIV? I don't think so, there is certainly a lot more story content but it is like most of Bioware's recent storylines pretty bland and forgettable. Obviously it has the Star Wars universe, but it is not the best telling of that universe. The atmosphere the game attempts to create through full voice acting and dramatic events is diminished by the Cheesy MMO (watered down RPG elements, and simplistic mechanics) feel of the gameplay and art which portrays it.
As for FFXIV's plans
I still support Yoshida and Matsui's vision for combat in FFXIV:
- Both personal and group combination attacks.
- Positional and targeted attacks (attacking body parts)
- The Pugilist/Monk elemental style.
- The Lancer's Combo and crit focused style.
- The Bard.
- The Black Mages Magic Combos.
- The Marauder/Warrior's Berserker style gameplay.
- Matsui designed encounters (based on his previous work I look forward to seeing what he can come up with)
- The TP/weapon skill system, the enmity system, and the MP system I also think demonstrate the right priorities for a good MMO.
I especially am looking forward to future content like:
- Roaming gods which grant your Free Company a one time, game altering summon.
- Quest (hopefully many that are epic) driven job progression.
- Housing system with neighborhoods and harvesting area
- Chocobo raising.
I like the look of the concept art they have for 2.0. I also think I just like the lore of FFXIV better than the Old Republic universe, a character free to play any class/job, and I like playing an MMO on global servers.
I'll continue to play the beta of a game I enjoy, I've paid for it before. I also have fun with my linkshell enough to keep me logging in (though I imagine I'll be more active once the things I anticipate most are present). I'll stop when I become uninterested in the direction they are heading, or if something else blows my socks off. It won't be SWTOR.
btw 2.0 is being tested your testing the content that should have been here, part of the reason this game is so bad. anything added between now and 2.0 should have been here, the shit in 2.0 should have been here. you are playing 2.0 beta get over it. not only are you playing it your about to pay for it, least STO don't hide this fact.
Console gamers will likely make up the majority of all players for this game. PC gamers have a LOT of other MMOs to choose from, and failed launches are extremely hard to recover from. Just look at Aion; doing great in Korea and it's by all aspects a good MMO right now, but they only have like 4 servers in NA and 6 or 8 in EU.
