Generally speaking I do think there should be more rarity and exclusivity in a lot of stuff within all aspects of the game. Making everything so easily obtainable destroys all forms of rarity, prestige and even value.
It might be allowing content to be unsynced so players can easily rofl stomp ex primals for mounts or old raids. even things like titles from coil or thordan ex etc etc... all of which used to hold some rarity and prestige but now are worthless.
Making everything so easy to get also destroys content as well because it destroys value in the rewards..
Take a look at palace of the dead for an example. They added those sacks in that were supposed to reward players for exploring the floors and digging a little deeper but players could get so many of them often 3-4 sacks in a 10 floor run. and everything you get from those sacks is worthless junk because its all so common in the game that players basically just ignored them. It's simply not worth making the run take 20 seconds longer to go and get that sack. So it just gets ignored. Thus destroys the entire purpose of them and as such damages the content itself.
The same thing applies to aquopolis and the lost canals. They throw so much stuff at you that its all essentially junk and thus players hardly bother with it anymore. except maybe for a week when they add a new glamor material. but it soon dies again.
In a way even dungeons are the same how many times do players run through dungeons and completely ignore the treasure chests even if they're only 2 steps away....
And its also true for doh/dol. it's not really a case of NQ items and HQ items. its more a case of trash items and NQ items because virtually every crafter has a 100% chance of hqing everything that HQ items are basically the norm... and even on the supposed rare materials for gatherers it's ridiculously easy to grab large amounts of them in no time at all. which is why level 70 ores are basically the same value as level 50 ones.
So yeah I think rarity and exclusivity is a good thing and would actually help content. if those sacks from potd for example were rarer but actually worth something a lot of players would take the extra couple of minutes to look for one rather than just get to the next floor as fast as possible..
Also it's been said by so many people over the years but if gear was more prestigious and valuable a lot more people would raid. but simply don't bother because the gear will be trash the moment the next patch lands...
