To be honest, I have quite a simple mind, so this whole glamour dresser, plate system is far too complex for me.
Yet it's not just complex for me, its needlessly complex full stop.

I like to change glamours/hairstyles/colors very often, so the dresser has been a Gods send for me. I used to be very conservative with my glamour prisms because of the price they commanded, so I'd force myself to stick with one outfit for a long time because of that. Now I can change outfits on a whim with no cost to me! It truly is wonderful, and I can't wait for them to expand on it in the near future.
It's a great way to keep a consistent look, or have a few varying looks without spending prisms switching all the time. Put your seasonal wear in it, make a "town" outfit and an "adventure" outfit.I personally do not use it, nor do I intend to use it in the future. I'm not the kind of player who strives to level every single job. I play the jobs I have an interest for, and nothing more. Therefore, I don't have that many jobs to glam, which kind of renders the dresser redundant for me.
It'd probably also help with inventory issues, if you have any since anything you're just keeping "cause it looks good" can go in there.
But, you do you.
While it took a little bit to fully suss out the eccentricities of the system, now that I know the basics, I feel it's very simple. It's no more complicated then the first system (which I'm guessing you probably think is needlessly complex as well?) and much more convenient if you like to swap looks often.
I'm not going to tell you how to feel about it, but there's a lot of people who've never even tried it posting in the forums about how useless it is. How do I know they haven't tried it? They post outright wrong information and for some weird reason are trying to compel others to avoid it. I'm all for a fair review, but fear mongering and doomsaying about something you have no hands on experience with is just the weirdest way to go about this.
I encourage everyone to fiddle around with it at least a little, use the armoire stored items at least since it'll cost you nothing.
It's very DIFFERENT than many other games out there, but so's the rest of the game.
My look is consistent. Any time I get better gear, it literally takes a second to re-glam what I originally had. Not to mention that when the glam system changed, I took all of the prisms I had to the calamity salvager, and I now have hundreds of prisms, so I'm not too worried about spending them. I don't change my glamour for seasons, town, adventuring or whatever. I have a set look for each job I play, and don't intent to change them. I appreciate the input, but I still don't see how the dresser could be of any use to me.It's a great way to keep a consistent look, or have a few varying looks without spending prisms switching all the time. I'm not bothering with it unless they can change it so that it doesn't essentially destroy gear.
If you were going to use the dresser, you could create a plate for each of those "consistent looks" and then any time you upgrade your actual gear, you reapply the plate to get your new items back to that consistent look in a single step.
The advantage is that you don't need to carry the original items with you (or retrieve them from your retainer if that's what you're doing) to be able to apply the glamour each time, and it's a quicker process if you upgraded multiple gear pieces at once.
I also tend to keep a fixed look for each job, and I've found it really useful for reapplying glamours like this. Especially when leveling up and having possibly five or six new equipment pieces at once, every three levels.
Also, previously I wouldn't have bothered with glamouring jewellery pieces, if I had to do it individually, but now I can include them on the plate it's nice to be able to do that. (Another potential for that, which other people have mentioned, is that they've made a plate with just a set of "Emperor's New Jewellery" to turn everything invisible in one shot. Unfilled slots don't affect your current glamour so it could be applied without affecting your clothing.)
For somebody like me who has multiple outfits to change from it’s a great thing to use. The old system was far more annoying to deal with than this.
The main downside to the glamour chest i've found so far is that sometimes when i change my gear i'm half naked because i have a glamour plate where the pants is a pair of hempen panties. Obviously I'd like to have at least one slot for each job but I'm sure that'll come eventually. I've also been trepidatious about putting one-of-a-kind gear into it.
They/them pronouns
Yeah this system is perfect for people who only play a couple jobs and either have a normal look they want to reapply with one button, or have several predetermined looks for their couple jobs they want to switch to with one button. For people who play many jobs this entire system is horrible unless they double plates and triple dresser space, it's a full step backwards from the current system.
