Well, I moved from Chaos and back to Aether the day before the servers went down for 4.2. I'm an night owl, for the most part...so the queue times are much better for me over on Aether and I don't notice anything in terms of lag.

I queued up for a PvP roulette earlier and was pleasantly surprised that a five minute wait resulted in a 72 man Shatter. Quite refreshing after only seeing 24 man battles for the past few months. I put it down to the impressive looking new gear, though. The new orchestrion roll certainly helps too.

Lol, Frontlines mainly consists of, healing bots, and the odd qqer at the end of the match calling the group "Garo trash" among other things, and dipped asap (like all s*it talkers do). Funny because nobody should take this pvp format seriously, due to the high volume of bots, and, we were in Seal Rock, so that tells me that he babyraged because he's farming for the coat ...what's the difference again pal??

Whats interesting is my gf was playing yesterday and her Astragalos queue reached 115 minutes before she decided to drop and queue up for Frontlines and it was around 12 minutes.

That's where people go wrong. You're on a team, you're competing. You better take it seriously or you're wasting yours and everyone else's time. Sorry, "Duty Finder" mentality doesn't work in PvP. Not saying you have to treat it like savage raiding, but I can say the people that are good? The ones that win most of the time? They don't think like that. And even if by some chance they do, they still actually play well rather than let an idea like that affect how much effort they put forth.

Oh, oh, I have to comment on this one. The very same could be said of all the players that arbitrarily hate PvP without having ever tried it. The ones who caught bad word of mouth and continued to spread it without any understanding of it. The "too many buttons" players who avidly played any and all PvE content just fine with those same buttons. And the soft-shelled types who feel like Final Fantasy XIV has to be their Designated Safe Space on the internet from all things they don't like or understand. People spent years tearing down this game's PvP when it was actually pretty good and had depth, yet now they laud and glorify this 9 button mess like it's a big improvement over something they didn't even know and avoided all along? Whew! The irony in this statement makes me dizzy.

That community you spoke of is the reason you have better queues thanks to Frontline Freelancer, the dueling circle, hell, it's the reason some of the most clueless teams eke out a win sometimes in any of the modes because they actually know the rules and strategies and aren't just treating it all like some crap shoot and hoping to get lucky that day. And they were the same ones ignored by SE and the rest of the community, or talked down to, or laughed at for liking something everyone hated like it was something to be proud of. They were the same ones completely ignored and alienated when SE made their big shift to. . . this, taking almost none of their feedback, and giving back even less than that. That community that existed is all but gone, replaced by people looking for easy XP, or yet another reward to grind, and who don't play the content because they actually enjoy it, and would drop it in a heartbeat the moment those same rewards were made available anywhere else.

tl;dr - Get ignored by SE for 2 or 3 years while they offer you bare minimum, frequently ask for, then barely accept your feedback, then continuously screw up and make the content you enjoy the most worse and worse. Get shunned by the rest of the community, told that what you like and enjoy doesn't matter, doesn't belong, and openly, proudly hate and scapegoat as reasons other things they want don't arrive on time. Get people who frequently don't know what they're talking about trying to tell you who DOES know how wrong you are, as they embrace a huge de-evolution of said content like it's a great thing, and see just how positive you can remain.

Like how the bot part wasn't included, my main reason for saying that it shouldn't be taken seriously. When the game itself doesn't take pvp seriously enough to rid it of these bots, that feeling kind of ends up happening. Regardless, I try to take the pvp that I queue for seriously, but I guess, not seriously enough to be a deterrent to other players. Anyways, I don't care how "good" this person is, the fact that they're raging at randoms from Frontline roulette tells me a lot about them. They want to win so badly? Form a premade with more "good" players. Or, maybe they should've piped up in the chat, and shared their knowledge of what to do with the other players, rather than belittle them at the end, and quickly turn tail. Being "good" doesn't mean that you get to be a jerk to other people, especially if the person in question is being a major hypocrite. My bad for not including this info in my original post, though.

It's fine, and I won't defend someone just being nasty toward the team after the fact.

I CAN say however that there are a lot of players now that will openly defy or refuse good advice, and that can turn a lot of players sour. I once told a team not to just jump off the cliffs in Shatter to get to the ice faster, especially since there was an enemy team there already, because they would be at half-health (and healers no longer have aoe heals except WHM, which we didn't have). In the process of saying this, I took out 3 players on the 3rd team doing just what I was warning them about, but was told to shut up because "no one's interested in your suggestions."

People STILL think capping mid is the guaranteed, be-all, end-all strategy to winning in Rival Wings, when I've proven that false time and again. Worse than that, I've actually tested seeing what happens if I don't make calls in Rival Wings. . . and I've watched Oppressors walk from one end of the map to the other and hit our core, apparently having been the only one to see them on the map.

It's not as simple as "form a premade or speak up". Premades aren't just good by default. Good players in a premade are good. Inversely bad ones aren't necessarily better for being in a premade. And while I understand there are a LOT of people making a LOT of wrong calls in there these days, it seems like the best advice/strategies are often the most contested. There's no excuse for bad behavior, win or lose, but it's not fun at all to watch the chain of mistakes/bad plays happen when people either refuse to listen, or enforce their own bad strategy over something better or smarter. Especially as the person who knows better.

As for bots, I've spoken about those at length. I'm done talking about bots, and happily direct that to SE - whose job it is to deal with that anyways.

I call opps out a lot when I'm in Rival Wings, but more than half the time, I'm the only one smacking the opp, or one of few on it, people want to fight over mid, rather than dispatch the thing that will destroy our towers. Sometimes the same opp even gets over to our other tower like...yeah. I've gotten annoyed over that from time to time, too. Not to mention healing people who jump from cliffs in Shatter, but the opp thing is way more annoying, probably because I'm blatantly getting ignored. People who don't want to listen/get catty learn the hard way, or just don't learn, and will drop out of pvp, most likely.

Personally, I haven't ran into people who're rude when they're given advice; some of them straight up ask what they should be doing, but, that's just the luck of the draw at the end of the day. There're still a lot of people who ignore chat big time, and don't open their maps.

Idk how to feel about XIV's pvp. Maybe I'm just biased towards other mmos and their pvp.

Just had a 72-man Secure match. First time since Stormblood early access that happened. So much more fun than the 24-man variant.

Best PvP instance in the game.

Hoping it wont be too long before I see another one.

The way feast players belived they are better than frontline players is laughable. It is like CoD players and Battlefield players calling each other's out. It is pointless. Both are PvP and both are competitive but one is in controlled environment and one is full with random variables. A good arena gladiator doesn't mean he will do well on a battlefield and a good soldier doesn't mean he will do wel in the arena.
