Flat Cap dyed Dalamud Red got a gold for me. Or did you already try that and that's where the 99 came from?

This is from one of the first 100 we saw
same two slots missing, others on this thread have made 91 with those slots missing, so something does add up. My first attempted was a 75, with only one gold item, the shirt, so yeah, something feels off.

they are not missing, they are irrelevant. When you equip whatever, they just disappear in the UI and are presented as emperor's accesories.

Wish I could agree, but not true, as you can clearly see over the many screenshots ^_^
Edited to add Yitan, no, all accessories show up, however it is true after looking at it that they are invisible emperor's accessories, get that now based on how it looks via the no shows and I screw up not putting things in for the 14 total point, agh, thanks for the help ^_^ You just worded what you meant a little off.

For things like this you need to think how the game "thinks" - the game isnt basing this on "how does it look?" but "does it meet the requirement in my algorythm?" - honestly one of the reasons I dont like minigames like this to much.Wish I could agree, but not true, as you can clearly see over the many screenshots ^_^

In this case it doesnt matter that both emporer's and nothing at all will look the same - for the game it only matters that there is something in that slot. And emporer's stuff is something.
So yeah, the mindeset for this game isnt "How does it look?" but "What will the game notice?"

Yeah, your edit sounds like you've got it. They're not empty slots, they're just accessories with no appearance.
The dye seems extremely important, as well as the other pieces of equipment, the ones not required : I got 84 with all gold and no other pieces than the required ones, and some here got more than 90 with a 1-star piece...

Thanks for the answers.
Also I agree with the gear scoring that people figured out (7 for nonhinted gear, 3 for correct dye, 2 for incorrect dye in the correct color category, 2-8 for hinted gear depending on stats). I did mine a few times and it matched that.
So glad I got my 100 (and that I'll never have to do it again as the prize is the same for 80-100 so doing it just this once for the achievement.)
I had to power level my fisher from 41 to 60 and do all my class quests from 35 to 60 to do it (and thankfully I had the achievment needed for the lucis, and about 500 scripts, already from Botanist) but it was worth it because I'm an achievement hunter
What I don't get is why the achievements are in Character->Class. They should have been in Character->Gold Saucer.

Postmoogle was tested and found to be 1 star. Not sure about the Ironworks stuff though!Anyone try the ironworks/carbonweave cap of gathering? It has the same silhouette as the flat and tacklekeep's cap with the small brim and bunched up forehead, which makes me a little optimistic about it. There's also the Postmoogle Cap but that's not dyeable so I'm not sure if you lose points for that even if it's theoretically gold by itself.
I'm still not quite sure how the scoring system works. If you get bonus points for dyes, does that mean any item that can't be dyed is automatically out of the equation?
And yes, for the items on the left (disregarding the waist) they must be dyable for max points. Including weapon.
