For head, the Flannel Knit Cap dyed Rolanberry Red is also Gold (didn't try it undyed). The Wool Knit Cap (cannot be dyed) is only 3 stars. The Flat Cap is definitely the way to go if you need to buy, much cheaper to craft.

Not having done much in the way of instances, I tried the Rainbow Ribbon of Aiming and the Ramie Ribbon of Aiming. Both were 4 stars. Still need to work on earrings.

If you're like me and you know you're not going to shell out for the actual items, or do the work to get them, you try to experiment to find alternatives. In my case:

Head: Green Beret (dye: cream yellow) was 1 star
Body: Sky Pirate Coat of Casting (dye: cream yellow) was 2 stars
Legs: Windsilk Bottoms (dye: cream yellow) was a surprising 3 stars (however it was 1 star in any other color--including soot black)
Earring: Hatchling Earring (only minion one I had) 4 stars
Neck: Rainbow Ribbon of Casting - 4 stars (the platinum scarves might score higher. They are green gear in better colors--perhaps someone can take one for the team and test one of them?)

The low score on the coat was disappointing because to me, Sky Pirate is the epitome of Adventure but meh. Also, don't use the Adventurer Jacket. It's 1 star. So was the Trailblazer top (even dyed). Everyone is using red for the shirt but when I dyed my Expeditioner's Tabard red, it didn't change the rating (I dyed it yellow to match the scheme of my outfit). He obviously wanted the Survival Shirt (even the Linen was gold), and I ran out of tries before I could test the Extreme version. Dalamud Red on the hat will improve your rating and apparently the Cream Yellow dye on my pants raised them from a 1 star to a 3 star--so that's a color he's looking for if you can't get the New World Hose. I'm curious if anyone found a 4-star alternative to those bottoms.

In any case, my highest score was a 76 (because I dyed my pants red to match and that bumped them down to 1 star :/) however, reddit mentioned that using favorable dyes on the other parts of your outfit (even if they're not the ones highlighted) can help your overall score. The trick is figuring them out I suppose. Oh well... Here's to next week!

Edit: Has anyone tried the western ranged stuff from a while back, or the lvl 62 gatherer gear? *goes back thru posts*

I think the accents line is talking about dyes, but without an actual hint that line is ueless, there are too many dyes and only 4 tries.

• weapon and undyed tights: 1 star, 9 points total
• weapon and tights dyed desert yellow: 2 stars, 11 points total
• weapon and tights dyed cream yellow: 3 stars, 12 points total
• weapon and tights dyed halatali yellow: 2 stars, 11 points total

Also, I suspect +stars and +points may be nonlinear, so eg. you might see different results if you find pants that start more than 1 star.

Kinda my bad for starting the thread. Maybe shoulda left it to someone that might keep the first post updated (but also hoped/suggested someone would make a proper new thread for exactly that).
