More options is always better. I 100% agree with having a system that has both wards and entirely instanced housing. Best of both worlds and everyone would have a realistic chance of getting a house.
Impression I get is their attempts at improving apartments will in effect be as close as they want to get to instanced housing. While apartments might not have the yard to decorate, to the dismay of some players, I'm sure, if they can achieve larger apartment sizes, in addition to somehow implementing gardening, I think they'll have taken some big strides towards making apartments satisfactory for a good chunk of the populace. The remainder will just have to continue fighting over the wards, and I can definitely see SE continuing to utilize restrictions to ensure FCs continue to have prime choice.
I sense so much hostility in this post, I'm not sure why you have to be so aggressive over the subject. I'm sorry that you had such a bad time in your area, you guys shouldn't have to deal with people acting that way towards you. However I can assure you that things aren't always that bad, just a little communication goes quite a long way![]()
If they can increase the internal sizes of apartments I think that would satisfy a huge population of people who are looking for houses, the latter of your comment is what scares me though. If SE plans on keeping wards closed down for FCs to have first pick then they need to crack down with an Iron Fist on these groups who specifically make FCs to take up the good housing. Not only is it unfair to those looking to buy a home, it's straight up unfair to a REAL FC who is trying to better the guild. Next patch, leave upgrading out of the equation and somehow restrict FCs a little harder. Maybe an FC made a week ago shouldn't be buying a large house?
Not hostile in the slightest, I just don't agree with people trying to act as though they speak for the majority of a wildly diverse community!I sense so much hostility in this post, I'm not sure why you have to be so aggressive over the subject. While you can attest for your experiences in balmung, I can do the same for what I see here. There is nothing wrong with you guys having the views that you do on the housing issue, I can just say from personal experience that stories like yours don't happen often on my server "From what I've either soon nor heard" so far. Our community here is flipping awesome, if we were in instanced housing it would essentially ruin the whole neighborhood aspect for us.
Actually Wildstar's housing is one every MMO should model itself after. I played beta for it and then several months afterward. Their quests were more challenging than here also but fun and the npcs had a sense of humor. The only reason I moved to FF was the raid content and their targeting system which I didn't like at all. I hope SE fixes this sooner rather than later.
"Fanboy is gaming jargon used to describe an individual that has gone beyond the point of being a PC or console game fan and, during online chats or discussions, shifts to defend the program at all costs, unable to take any criticism or acknowledge any shortcomings of the game or gaming console."
It might not be an ideal system, plenty of problems, plenty of dissatisfaction, but, I personally see a difference between providing access to housing and providing access to "good" housing. If larges are "good," they were never intended to satisfy the market. There's such a low supply, getting one is as much a status symbol as anything. I can understand space being used, and obviously gardening (maybe bit of a flaw allowing more gardening space for these plots of which there are few). But it's absurd to expect there to ever be enough to go around.
If high rank, proximity to boards and bells, aetheryte, etc, makes a plot "good," I personally just see a lot of being entitle/picky when the goal of housing access can still be achieved.
Soon as we start splitting hairs over "good" housing, things start getting subjective, and straying from the point of having the housing available.
Idk. I kinda lost my train of thought and probably didn't have much of a point there.
I don't disagree in fact like i replied to you in another thread i have been advocating a mix of instanced and non instanced for sometime now but honestly they are too stubborn and will just continue to add wards which fixes nothing.
Honestly at this point perhaps they should just make a public statement that they have really messed up with the housing and apologize but they will no longer work on housing.
It will be frustrating but players may eventually get over it. Right now they dangle a carrot in front of us with hopes and only to be disappointed/frustrated, etc...
