Iirc when someone relocates the plot opens immediately.

They are open for relocation, but not for purchase, or so I hear.

With the across the board nerf to housing prices and the amount of time since housing came out during Heavensward everyone and their mum has enough gil for a medium AT LEAST. Even with the amount of wards they are adding there is no way the amount of new Mediums and especially Larges can meet the demand for them. With every personal plot owner being given the same chance on them as an FC they will sell out within minutes, giving FCs that wanted to upgrade from the small they've had since 3.2 a snowball's chance in hell. That's the gist of it I think. Absolute bunk system that favors people who already have houses... oh and some FCs I guess. Thanks Obama.

The only difference is medium/large plots having more garden plots, which doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

The new plot will still have a random timer tied to it for new purchases. The only thing that bypasses any and all timers is relocation. Buyers that do not have a house to relocate are subject to the wait.

It might not seem like a big deal to you but consider an FC with 100+ members being stuck with a small and even LESS of gardening opportunities compared to a Large, and Joe Schmoe across the street all by himself is running a Lowes out of his front yard.

Plus all that extra room for parties and social times and stuff. But that isn't GAMEPLAY so I guess it doesn't count huh. Either way it's ridiculous. They should just redesign the wards and make the spread more even if they're not going to change the core system. I'm not saying Large houses should be FC only, but there are simply not enough of them. Not anymore. They don't cost 100mil+ back when the game first came out and everyone was poor.

Yes, they are adding the new wards tonight.
From the Maintenance announcement on the Lodestone:

In order to accompany Patch 4.2 Hotfixes as well as the addition of housing wards, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds at the time below, during which FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we thank you for your understanding.
