Discussing your 'unpopular' opinions

I've been away from the forums for a long time so maybe I'm wrong, but: my unpopular opinion is that I actually liked the cross-class skill system.

Don't get me wrong: I understand why it's gone and I feel that role actions are definitely the better of the two systems. But cross class skills actually gave you incentive to play other classes/jobs. A lot of players for some reason still have a "one toon = one job" mindset with this game, and while I believe it's just a game and we should be allowed to just what we want to play, this system encouraged people to try avenues they might not have otherwise.

I actually learned how to move better as a BLM after having to play as a BRD for awhile. Since BRD can move while attacking I felt more room to play with the idea of moving at the very last possible second when I first started out. I also got to see that yes, I made the right choice in playing a caster rather than a ranger. As far as skills go having Physick on my BLM was a tiny but great tool to have in my belt: I'm terrible at managing pet classes and don't find them fun, so just leveling SMN instead wasn't in the cards for me. But being able to cross Physick let me save dungeon runs in a pinch, or when Fate farming since it was almost always all DPS folks doing it at least I could help practice DPS-ing and Healing since not even SMNs wanted to do that. And Drain is a crap substitute.

So yes, it needed to go but a part of me still misses it greatly.

Balmung needs to stay locked. Roleplayers can cry a river, build a bridge, and get over it (or transfer if they find it such a problem). I like my server with no gil sellers, thanks.

(1) I don't care about Housing. Never have, never will; and I don't understand people who think player Housing is desirable and worth getting fired up about.


(2) Players on the various forums who constantly whine about others wasting their time.

I am *old*.

There is a much greater than average possibility I could actually die from old age while waiting in a DPS queue. ::::

I have little spare time. I can only play for a few hours each week, late at night, on weekends. And I just. Don't. Get. People who complain about the time they sit in queues; and the time they feel is wasted in runs with people who aren't (in their opinion) 100% optimally efficient.

1. Beef up the difficulty of content bit by bit as the player goes up in level.

2. Stop making Far Eastern Tomestone Gear and give us something Ala Mhigan based.

3. Give players less exp in dungeons/raids and more in Fates to give some life to the games outside world.

4. Stop favouring Samurai and Red Mage while either completely ignoring or messing up other job classes. I may play as a Samurai but would gladly shelf it away for a time if my MNK didn't feel so awkward in some places...

This comment is funny considering RDM and SAM are currently the bottom tier in terms of rDPS.... They need to favor RDM and SAM MORE, not LESS.

2. Stop making Far Eastern Tomestone Gear and give us something Ala Mhigan based.

We've had Ala Mhigan as the first set, Allagan as the second set, now Eastern as the third set of this expansion.. So don't know where you're getting that.

In no particular order:

1. PvP in this game is boring and unfun. It's a shallow experience filled with bots and elitist jerk holes.

2. Skip story potions bug the hell out of me. Even if it doesn't affect me personally it bothers me as a consumer that someone is willing to fork out money for a game then fork out extra to skip playing the game they just paid for.

3. I don't really like the way they did the new glamour system and i'm not sure it can be salvaged just by adding extra space. I guess in time we shall see.

4. Gil is/feels worthless in this game. Beyond transportation fee's and enough to keep me in raid food I have zero reasons to stock pile more than 10 or 20 millions gil. I just simply stop when I get this high as it's pointless to continue.

So in other words you want minor parts of them buffed, and major parts of them nerfed, cause that's how things are done it seems. Yeah, don't ask for buffs.

I also hate PvP, and feel they should neglect it a little more for the benefit of having more unique content put in the game.

They only just now started making effort, and terrible effort at that. Where have you been before 3.5?

Also I won't mince words, given the nature of this thread: Openly hating on PvP (in general, not just XIV) like it's something to be proud of is pretty pretentious and lame. Sure, opinions are opinions, and there are definitely exceptions or people with good reason, but the hive mind aversion to anything competitive in this game is a pretty limited mindset, and lacking competitive spirit doesn't strike me as a point to be proud of.

Calling anything in this game that doesn't fit within your sphere of interest a "waste of development" is also a limited mindset, and would be a pretty unhealthy one to have if you worked in the industry. I don't like hunts or FATEs, but I'm well aware of the purpose they serve, and wouldn't call them a waste. That's just me though.
