But you do play it, right now in fact. It's called real life. Only way healers get dps is if they go out of their way to build up or buy some form of dps. It isn't given to the player by default.

Look, I can understand being new at healing a dungeon/raid/primal/whatever and you're not 100% confident with your healing abilities. Even I will focus more on healing than doing damage if I'm healing a new situation. But by Merlwyb's silver whiskers even I at least try to toss out a dot here and there.

I remember in everquest online adventures my DPS as cleric was so pitiful compared to the mobs health it took me fifteen minutes to solo a mob once at mid levels. A lot of MMOs that use party based leveling tend to make healers debuff, buff, mitigate, and do a lot more managing MP and hate than here.

And troll thread or not, there is a point here; this really is the first group instance that healers absolutely have to do DPS to deal with mechanics. Even in Alexander, healers weren't required to when jailed; their jail in one encounter was just to stay stepped on a spot on the floor, an in the last encounter healers couldn't generally DPS enough to kill their add so they only went in as a last resort. It's no longer optional in the sense it was before.

I don't know how things are now for Perfect World but back when I played in 2008, Cleric was all Iron Heart Blessing(powerful regen spell that stacks almost indefinitely with itself), or that AOE heal(name escapes me), this was due to the way encounters were designed, and not so much having to do with the player. I'd say in recent years, healers have been able to do a lot more than just heal heal. If you find yourself only healing, it's a sign that you are unsure of yourself. This leads to more mistakes and wipes than the perceived thought behind healing only that it wont.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your main class is White Mage (Level 70), yes? The Job Class where the initial questline is about a girl who doesn't use the elemental (DPS) skills and is continually told that she's doing Conjury wrong?

Taken out of context and is not relevant about the issue with healers not doing DPS. It's just a circlejerk thing.
