    Pretty much this.
The new system could have been as neat as WoWs but apparently SE wasn't willing to design properly.

I'm certainly not going to permanently destroy gear, when I have no clue how to get it again.

The glamour plate doesn't go "over" the old glamour appearance, but rather replaces it. This means wearing a unique outfit on each job is as cumbersome and expensive as it has always been, i.e. you have to re-glamour every time when changing a job.
    So, if I understood correctly:
I cannot create a plate that has, say only earrings and necklace in it while the rest is left empty in order to quickly change jewelry sets b/c it always applies EVERYTHING, so my cat would end up naked?

a very fair point. items should be retrievable if there is a limit. I personally have already used over half of my space and will be sparing on what I keep and what I add

The question remains: When will they build onto this system and will they truly change it? I lost any kind of good will towards them since they often said stuff and did not keep up with that. Who knows..maybe they will do it but as long as that limit exists and items are getting destroyeds its a no go for me. It could also happen that they see that they cant build onto this system much more and suddenly we will wait a long time for an update.

    @Reinha: Ugh that sound tedious..

Maybe they should create systems where they dont need to change things so much in the future to make it into a good system. :/

If not, I want a roll back and get my gear back lol.
Right now you cant take things out of it again. They are kinda destroyed if you put them in that. Did they not have some big message that this will destroy it forever which you would have to click accept? If not shame on them..not everyone reads patch notes.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

You can also exchange old Glamour Prisms for the new one in Mor Dhona.

I completely agree with this... COMPLETELY!
By the way why is no-one complaining about the class restrictions on glamours? For example as a warrior I want to put on a body piece restricted to black mage... I find it mildly infuriating that I can't even though it's in the glamour dresser.
It's 2018 for crying out loud. There shouldn't BE class restrictions for items turned into glamour. there are no class restrictions on converted items in rival games such as:

    1. World of Warcraft
    2. Guild Wars 2
    3. RIFT
    4. Blade and Soul
    5. Aion... ah what the heck, the list can go on forever.
So why does FF14 have it? to be a nuisance?

Incorrect, it only applies the areas you've put glamours in. So if you make a plate with ONLY shoes it in, it will only attempt to glamour the shoes and leave all other glamours alone. This is actually really helpful for me since I glamour all my rings/necklace/armlets the same thing. So I made an "accessory plate" , applied it to everything I currently wear and done!

I'm honestly perplexed at how reluctant folks are to convert their items into glamour. I'm referring to folks who self-admittedly will NEVER use the gear for anything EXCEPT glamour, and yet they still cling to it. The dresser preserves the one thing that you actually want from the gear - the appearance - so why isn't that enough? A case COULD be made for glamour fanatics who can actually fill out the dresser's 200-space capacity, but I'm guessing that only a small minority of the doom 'n gloom folks actually qualify for that.

It reminds me of folks who actually chose to grind out Crystals for the Anima weapons (back when the Crystal grind was actually grindy), when they could have just traded in their ARR Relic to skip that step. I traded in BOTH my ARR relics, without even a moment's hesitation. After all, they were trash gear now, good for nothing but their appearance, and the appearance could be recovered at any time by buying a cheap replica.

    1) Remove restrictions (200 item limit, 10 glamour plates) or make them much, much higher than they currently are (or allow items to be retrieved).

    2) Allow plates to be applied anywhere in the world.

    3) Allow plates to be applied to retainers and squadron members.
Same boat as with Duty Recorder methinks, testing it out to see if it works and then any feedback will be used for improvements to make this more worthy of the community.

If you assume this is a feature in its beta stage, then these limitations make sense - they want to see how it works and how the system performs before opening the gates on one or more of these. I'll go the optimistic route for now and hope that future enhancements are coming. In the meantime, I'm going to be putting all of my job artifact gear into the dresser - it's easy to re-obtain if needed and I can't use it on squadron members anyway. I want to try making some glamour plates so that my summoner has a unique look from my red mage, and this will help with that. Maybe in the future I'll have more freedom for creativity but time will tell.
    1) I imagine they could expand it later. I'm not sure what the data storage consequences are for expanding it, but generally anything limited to the "inn" means it's instanced, and thus has no actual limit because no other player around you is going to be able to see what you're doing. Even with the retainers, you don't see other players retainers except on their properties in the housing areas. Where it becomes something of an issue is when other players witness things, because that means every player in the zone has to get that data updated.

    2) As I said in the first point, every player in the zone has to see that data updated, which is why you can't dynamically change the glamour this way, because people spamming different plates would just be amplified across the zone's instance, and slow everyone down. They did this on purpose, though it's implementation is clunky. When you enter/exit a zone, the game essentially broadcasts to all the players that X has entered the zone at Y coordinates, and a data package of that players appearance is sent. Every time you change your appearance, that data package is sent again. Add the glamour plates on top, and now every player has to also have the contents of all the glamour plates applied to the gear you have. So you've doubled the data requirements already, and if people have slow hard drives, this just creates misery for players in crowded areas. This is why the draw-distance is reduced on consoles, the game doesn't need to render those changes, but it still gets them.

    3) That is clearly what was missed in implementing this, because any gear I want to use for either has to not be put in the glamour dresser, or never used as glamour. That said...

Clearly what should have been added is binding a glamour plate to the main hand gear, not the just the dresser. eg if you have different jobs, you can have different glamours for those jobs using the same actual gear, but different glamours. If the gear you're equipped with can't take the glamour plate, then simply don't glamour that item. If you want to have a "cold weather" costume, but otherwise want to keep the accessories and weapon the same, then you bind it to just a plate with the other slots empty.

Alternatively, allow the players to define three "special purpose" plates they can switch to/from that only apply to unclassed costume gear (level 1 gear), and since these items can be applied to any gear, they're always available to be glamoured without erasing the existing glamour of what you're wearing.
    - Cold weather gear (heavy clothing)
    - Warm weather gear (light clothing)
    - Beach gear (eg bathing suit)

So anyone who inspects the player gets a "costume plate 'beach gear'" message that they can look at the plate itself.
