Yeah, this is not working the way I was hoping. As the OP said, don't overwrite our existing glamours. Let the Glamour Plate be an overlay that has a higher priority than normal glamours.

With this system, I think we need at least 20 plates and the ability to change plates outside of city-states.

All of this could have been much easier and better if FFXIV used the glamour system of Xenoblade X (or the Fashion Gear as they call it in that game). Each playable character has an extra set of equipment slots that overrides the appearance of the normal equipment slots. Have that as a base and expand from that.

You can make a macro that changes your gear set and glamour plate at the same time.

/gearset change X Y

X = the number on the gear set you want to change into
Y = the glamour plate you want to use

You can also add

/macroicon "X" gearset

so the macro icon is the job/class icon.
