I don't have exact quotes from the ingame help texts at hand now but I did re-read to check and they do strongly suggest the plate is something the look is related on, and no where even mention using a plate removed the current glamour of the item. In hindsigt it seems sensible but that's another point which has caused people to rage, loosing the existing glamour while the helps suggest the look is related to the plate, not actually putting it on gear.

I can see that. The patch announcements didn't really clarify that it was a template that actually PUT the glamours on things and not an overlay either.
I just don't understand the fear, now that we DO know what it does, being so bad that people are absolutely refusing to use it at all. Even if you ONLY throw things you KNOW can be replaced in it, you're saving yourself space, or gil required to rebuy it, AND guaranteed you're saving yourself a prism (past the first use of course) .

Currently mine is full of all the stuff my 70's wear, a templar set, my crafting set, my gatherer set and an absolute buttload of all the other things I like the look of but cannot find a current use for (both odin sets) . The only thing I hesitated to glamour immediately was the "uniform" I use for my squad, since it's not easy to get stuff on them glamoured. I haven't actually tried using the same trick I use for my retainer on the squadron members.

It is not free storage, as the only items that can be put in are essily reacquirable ones, such as salvager items, which wouldn't need storing in the first place for that very same reason.

That's exactly what I meant, I can't put anything that can't be easily bought into it. I didn't mean it as technical limit, but as a practical one. That is, it's usage as storage is limited since it would be foolish to put anything you can't rebuy into it.

In related note, they really should put SAMand RDM starter gear on salvager but that's whole another jar of worms.

Please correct me but wasn't this already the case with the original glamor system? I have all three tanks leveled to 60+ and I love the Warrior AF (Fighter Cuirass) to hell. It's always been the case that because PLD or DRK can't wear the WAR AF that when worn by PLD and DRK the item reverts to their original appearance. I do hate this because I have every job leveled to 60+, just asking how the plate system differs from the original in this case? I don't think it does?

Hey unfortunately when your items are placed into the glamour dresser/armoire CLASS RESTRICTIONS STILL APPLY. I thought these restrictions were removed once the item was placed into the dresser, but this is not the case, and this needs to change if squeenix wants to keep up with their biggest competitors such as Guild Wars 2 and World Of Warcraft (both these games have no class restrictions for glamour)

This is incorrect. On Guild Wars 2 you unlock the visuals (aka skins) of the equipments you discover along the way, but if you use Heavy armor, you can only glamour heavy armor skins on it.
And the same goes for World of Warcraft. You can't use the transmog system to make your Mail gear look like a Leather piece. So yes, both of those games do have "class" restrictions for glamour. You're just forgeting the fact Guild Wars 2 and Warcraft don't alow you to play one single character with all the classes unlocked for it.

That being said, as far as glamour goes, GW2 requires you to use Transmutation Charges, that are far from cheap (only being obtainable through heavy farming or cash shop only), and THAT is the actual glamour. What are you referring to is the Cash Shop skins that just override gear that you're using, but you have a set amount of skins available, and their pieces are not interchangeable. So in regards to those, everyone looks the same with different colors.

On the Warcraft side, you have interchangeable pieces of gear you can glamour, sure. But no dye system. And as said above, you ARE restricted by the type of gear you are using. You might be a Shaman and have access to Cloth, Leather and Mail, but you can only glamour the pieces that you are using with their respective type of armor design.

I know this Glamour dresser isn't perfect, but let's stop pretending that any other game ever created have better glamour implemention, because they all have flaws in their own way. Final Fantasy's is just a first step, and I am sure there's a lot that is going to improve.

I am pretty sure they will make this whole glamour dresser thing better with time and it's going to end up being the default choice. So all we can do as a community is address what we don't like about it with criticism that isn't based on rage. They first started with getting rid of the grades of glamour prisms, then they made all glamour prisms obtainable through the grand companies, now they shoved all types of prisms into one single thing and added the dresser. It's pretty clear that SE is slowly wanting to make the whole glamour system less of a hassle. I do think the execution of the system is flawed, however I can see the many ways in which it can improve and end up being what so many people want it to be.

Just think of the dresser as a beta version of a big, better system that is yet to be implemented in future patches. Not 100% what people expected, but also not too far from it.

Thank you, I completely agree. I'm not a coder, or sure as hell a programmer. but these kind of restrictions are tedious and frustrating... Maybe they will implement what you've said since it already existed in the previous final fantasy MMO. HOPE <3
