I really don't see why the solo instances would have required much work. None of the fights involve particularly complex tactics; the Squadron AI should be sufficient more or less out of the box.It also prevents people from spam clicking through those dialogs and leaving us in the same position as before, people rushing to the detriment of the newbies.
I had concerns over that possibility.
Still, making them solo encounters would have been the better idea.
Though, that would require significantly more time and dev resources to do.
This was the quick and easy fix.
Also, the auto-progression allows people to AFK during cutscenes they know are long, which I view as another positive. If I'm going to be going through a lot of lengthier cutscenes, I want to be able to use the restroom or get a drink while they're playing without holding the group up.

Looks like I'll only be doing Castrum and Prae when friends need it.Just did MSQ Roulette myself—Praetorium.
Wait time: ~10 mins (DPS)
Instance time: ~50 mins (skipping/blowing through things as per usual)
Experience (level 60 job): 274,217 experience for the mobs we did kill; 1,338,681 experience for the Roulette (was not AiN).
My overall opinion? Not worth it. The experience reward doesn’t seem to be anymore than what I used to get running it beforehand.
Isn't that same xp as before patch?

If they still need to watch them at the inn...what was the point of this change that made the roulette useless to such a vast amount of people?!
Well, clearly developers think that less than doubling half of the reward (poetics) is sufficient for doubling the runs length (or more). Guess their budget doesn't offer enough leeway to buy a calculator.

On top of the +80 you get from 120 to 200 for the roulette, you also get base 100 for castrum, and 200 for praetorium. So roulette praetorium nets you 400 peotics, 300 for castrum. If they still need to watch them at the inn...what was the point of this change that made the roulette useless to such a vast amount of people?!

Originally it was only 20.

It’s day one. I’m sure there is a sizable chunk of players that don’t read the patch notes and are going in today blind and just doing the roulettes they always do. Once they realize what changes have been made, I’m sure many will decide it’s not worth it anymore or will queue for it much less frequently than before. There are probably also many people queueing to see what the changes feel like, and some of them won’t be bothered, but others will decide it’s no longer worth it.So essentially its nowhere near as bad as the community were trying to make it out to be.
You probably get less xp from alliance roulette that takes more time than story roulette.
Rewards for tomes were always crap so people can stop trying to use that excuse.
So all in all possibly once everyone has finished catching up on the new patch the MS roulette numbers will be similar or higher than before.
I really don’t see any way that there won’t be less players regularly queueing for this than before after everyone has had a chance to actually see the changes. We know some who were running it regularly won’t be anymore. So will more new people who weren’t running it before now step in to run it on a regular basis because of the changes? I doubt it tbh

So Castrum takes about twice as long and gives you more than double the Poetics (140 -> 300) while Praetorium is about three times as long and gives nearly triple the Poetics (140 -> 400). That... actually sounds entirely reasonable. (Well, unless you want Mendacity... but you were never getting that before, so I don't see how this made anything worse.)
What about experience, though? Does anyone have a good before/after comparison? If the experience reward went up by the same amounts, I think it's hard to complain about the extra time. But from what I've read, it doesn't sound like it did. When I run this roulette, it's usually just for a bit more exp, but it's hard to justify risking a 45-minute dungeon for that if it hasn't increased.

Castrum 4.1 - Level 61 White Mage
Last boss experience: 31903 (0.65%)
Last boss tomes: 20
Roulette experience: 642,610 exp (13.8%)
Roulette tomes: 120
Queue time: 3 minutes
Total time (people rushed): 21 minutes
Total time: 24 minutes
Total experience (last boss + roulette): 67,4513 (21.13%)
Note: why did I keep track of last boss? Because they said completion rewards would be increased, which I did think would mean poetics, but I also kept the possibility that it would be the final boss experience as well.
Castrum 4.2 - Level 61 White Mage
Last boss experience: 253522 (this went up a lot) = 5.2%
Last boss tomes: 100 (this went up)
After receiving this, I leveled to 62, so numbers are not as easily comparable.
Roulette experience: 1140712 exp = 21.45% (since I just turned 62 the number went up, but percentage-wise it doesn't seem to have gone up much. It doesn't seem to have increased or if it did, it's by a small amount)
Roulette tomes: 200 (this went up)
I also got 78,092 exp seemingly out of nowhere. My guess is that the 253,522 is a new experience bonus for completion and the 78,092 is actually the boss exp. If that is the case, the boss exp wouldn't have increased all the much but the new completion exp is ok - but maybe not worth it because of the extra time spent.
Queue time: 8 minutes
Total time: 37minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
If you compare the run time, before it was 21 minutes. Add 6 minutes of cutscenes and that should have been about 27 minutes. The extra 10 minutes are from doing small pulls and people getting lost because a lot of people were newer, which will happen more often as veteran players stop queuing.
Conclusion
Because of the level up I cannot acurrately compare total (last boss + roulette) experience.
That being said:
Overall it seems like only the boss/completion experience went up by a significant amount, not the roulette experience.
I would estimate about 26% (not counting other bosses and monsters), compared to about 21% before for something that took twice as long and was a bit boring.
For those of us, like me, who ran this solely for the experience (and the nice easy run), it doesn't seem worth it - and that was just Castrum.
Furthermore as time goes on, the queue time will lengthen, and parties doing small slow pulls will also increase as they get less experienced players, leading to even more time added on top of the cutscenes. This would also mean though that the chances of having an actual new person in the run should also increase for an extra 100 poetics and WT second chance.
Note 2: Why did I not include adds and other bosses?
Because different groups pull different amount of skippable adds, and I just forgot about the other bosses. That being said since only completion & roulette "rewards" were mentioned, those should be the only numbers that truly matter, but I should have at least kept some monster exp for reference in case they increased that as well. Too late now.
