You can technically "hoard" maps by having multible retainers, use 1 map and still have 1 more in your inventory.
Unless my math fails me we may now have 10 maps on us

You can also mail them to friends and have them send them back to you and keep them unopened till you need them

I am aware but we do not do maps all too often as a group so my retainers are always full and each time i gather... it is annoying as hell.
It is not asking for much and is easy enough to allow them to be stackable.
And why would they not want people to hoard maps? Last i checked the value has dropped significantly.
Anyhow it was just something myself and many players that gather would love to have as a QOL improvement
