While the Glamour Revision is welcomed - I feel like its missing the mark

No joke. Remember when the glamour system was originally introduced there were a whopping total of 37 different prisms? Clear Prisms, Dispel Prisms, and then 5 different prisms for each of the 7 jobs divided by their item level. Was that really necessary?

...apparently not, because since then the prisms were first reduced to 9, and starting next week they'll be only 3. Everything else was an useless overcomplication that didn't add anything.

Remember when we wanted a system to dye our chocobos? Nobody wanted anything complex, just dump a pot of blue dye on the bird and be done. We got a needlessly complex system of feeding and waiting for days on end in a chocobo stable one needs housing or apartments to even have access to. Oh, and praying that nowhere along the way did one accidentally feed their bird the wrong thing.

See, I don't see the sense of achievement in that. If I want to dye something a specific colour, I'm not seeking any milestone accomplishment to go along with it. I simply want that colour. It's needlessly convoluted for no real reason.

With the Glamour Dresser. I wanted a way to glamour each job differently. Instead, we yet again got The SE Touch™, where our items get deleted, thus restricting what sets you would ever want to store there. Now this would less an issue if cash shop outfits could go in the Armoire. Alas, that's too difficult, apparently.

A good chunk of my glamour items are from the cash shop, and to my knowledge those are not replaceable. I'm very worried about destroying them to put them into this new glamour dresser. :/

The game is full of these things where they take something simple and throw gobs of complexity at it. When that doesn't work, it takes them eons to react, and they do it in baby steps before maybe winding up at something workable.

When trying to explain why they do that, I shrug and say "Because Japan".

Anything? They've fixed NOTHING since 2.0? I am assuming you're using hyperbole but if you're not, then that's an outright lie. They've fixed lots. They have made changes, they've implemented systems to satisfy player concerns and added content wherethere used to be none.

They did address it going from 1.0 >2.0 removing materials and such, but 2.0 was the last we got to see something major. The only "fix" we got after that is hiring more retainers. Now that we are at 9, the problem gets worse and worse that we do not have a better inventory management in being able to transfer items from retainer to retainer.

All they did 2.0 + is make the inventory problem worse while giving people a tiny relief putting some currency bloat into a currency tab, but they did such a small amount of it. I expected them to add on as time went on, and nope, we have not seen it.

I have lots of patience releasing this joke of a system after 2 expansions and not addressing the major underlying problems has officially broken my patience, and tbh, its not easy to do.

Them releasing a 9th rentable retainer with the release of this joke system is them flat out admitting it is a joke, and know people need more inventory space to function. in order to be able to function they make you pay more a month. Just make this game f2p already, it is more f2p then a sub model anyway.

It's highly likely the dresser won't even allow cash shop items to be used. It has the asterisk text saying certain gear can't be used. And even if it could be used...why would you consider destroying gear you paid real money for?

Yes hyperbole. They have increased inventory, reduced some bloat, and are making inroads to improved item management. Granted as they are wont to do, it's accomplished with all the grace of a calf freshly fallen out of its mom but it's still something they've been trying to do for us. As I posted previously, this system is needlessly complicated and just further highlights how poorly they planned their systems. But this goes back 16 years to FFXI and the constant haphazard attempts at QoL improvements or balancing and is neither new or surprising. I'm jaded by the constant excuses and misdirection on their part throughout the years but I also acknowledge they are trying in the patented SE way.

Honestly you need to take some time and step away to cool off it seems like at this point. The underlying problems pretty obviously lay in the code and system workings and cannot be fixed without a major overhaul which is unfeasible at this point in time. It sucks but that's how it is.

Some people are reporting that you cant use a plate and the old glamour system at the same time..and some even said on reddit that the glamour plate from one job (redmage) suddenly also swapped over to their summoner glamour...wow I did not really think that the system could be even worse..x)

I am staying as far away from that dresser and its plates as possible..

That's because the glamour has been applied to the gear, not the job.

Basically it seems that the glamour dresser is a shortcut to applying multiple glamours at once, but they're still applied as they are with the old system, permanently attached to the gear until you cast a different glamour on it. It's not that you can't use both systems, just that what people anticipated out of the glamour plates (a temporary overlay separate to your current glamour) is not what it actually does (overwrite the current glamour with the items on the plate).

It'll be good for jobs where I am constantly applying the same glamour to different gear as I level up.

I guess for special costumes (casual clothes or whatever) you could still make use of it, just make sure you apply it over a costume that you have a separate plate set up for.

Multiple job glamours for the same equipment will have to wait until we can link the (hopefully expanded number of) plates to gear sets.
