Falling, I'm a long-time proponent of the demo timer, and even I think you are carrying things too far. The OP is bummed he lost his house (seriously, who wouldn't be?) but he never argued that he shouldn't have and he was actually very understanding about that part, which you would have seen had you bothered to read any of his posts.

Your comment is as unnecessary as it was tactless. What the OP is more upset about, and I can actually get behind him on this one, is that he lost all of his stuff after the 35 day timer on gil/item hold ran out. I really can't support the item timer the way I do the demo timer- the house is already freed up for other people, so there is no reason not to hold peoples' things for a longer (or indefinite) period of time. It's not blocking anyone's access to any content the way holding a house while not being subbed does.

As far as my reply to the OP goes, Its not tactless - none of us need to read such descriptions in here in an effort to tug our sympathy - whether it is true or not. This thread was posted originally looking for a solution to their loss and i respect that - but several people have openly stepped forward to help, which the OP recognizes, turns down, and now posts sarcastic garbage such as what i responded to? This was a pretty genuine thread to start and turned into one nasty looking sympathy plea.

I read the thread before posting - including the meaning behind those words.

Fact 1: OP lost his house and understands why, not angry, just disappointed. Fact 2: (The real BS) OP also lost all "housing" items, receiving no compensation, is very unhappy about this practice and so comes here to talk to others and voice his story and concerns. Fact 3: We all know why they instituted this process, to force you to keep paying every month no matter what. A "use it or lose it" all policy. I think it's a BS way to do business but it's not my game, I just choose to play it. I have been playing about 2 yrs now and if I didn't have a house yet due to none available, I would of moved on. If I ever have to quit for a while and unable to play, I will already know that all my housing stuff is gone so I will play something else and never use a SE product again. As I stated in another post. There are other games out there that don't take everything should your personal circumstance change for a while which are quite satisfactory in comparison to this one.

I think your "Fact 3" there makes me question if you know what a fact is.

What you think SE's intentions are for those guidelines arent exactly hidden based off that misrepresented Q/A in your signature. Those wards are intentionally different from instanced housing - we can so much as build virtual communities here. We can get that "hey neighbor" feeling. Not something we can do in instanced housing. It doesnt work in inactive housing though, no one wants to live in a ward looking like detroit - viod of all life and empty structures. Demo timer addresses that.

While you are correct SE said one thing and did another, we do NOT know if the reasoning they chose to do so is to get more subscriptions - it could even be lifed if the housing supply satisfies most of the demand. It could be many reasons the demo timers are here - some are for positive experiences.

I suggest you to wake up and smell the coffee (alone in filled ward). I do understand in their current design why houses are demolished. I do not excuse the reasoning for housing items going bye-bye also. Fail housing system is fail and needs revamped.

You mean like Mist ward 2 subdivision on Balmung? My ward? The one where I've only seen my neighbors a grand total of three times in the six months I've owned the house? The one with the completely empty, locked mansion behind me, or the small on the other half of the neighborhood that only has an aetheryte shard? Or, for an example of a lively ward, we can look at the mansion next to my FC lead's apartment building, with its gardens full of dead thavnairian onions.

The demo timer has its place, but let's not pretend it should be necessary or that the ward system is good. The ward system is garbage. It always has been. I don't see my neighbors. Ever. And most of the posters on here have that same experience. The wards are dead.

I don't like the demo timer. I understand why it's there, but I think it punishes people (like OP) who, for whatever reason, had to stop playing. Other games do not have this problem.

And even with the ward system, why can't the NPC hang onto the items indefinitely? I imagine "because the servers" - somehow, the second most popular MMO on the market has servers that can't handle what a dress up game I play on my mobile phone can.

I hear you Elamys. My ward is mostly green all houses taken, open and decorated but I have not seen anyone in the time I have been here. Nobody riding or walking by, nobody being nosey as I like to and peeking inside and nobody at the MBs. Heck I never even see anyone inside while I am being nosey lol. Using "the community experience" as a reason for timers falls on deaf ears here because we residents know the truth.
