Two things:

1) Removing the concept of "Egi" at this point is impossible, since it's deeply rooted in this game's lore (as well as its status being officially cemented within the Encyclopedia Eorzea).
"Summoners" don't actually summon; what they actually do is create aetherial constructs based off Primals that they were present for at the moment of their dispersion.
Said constructs are called: "Egi" (ie. essence of a Primal).

2) Even if (for some bizarre/far-fetched) reason they removed the Egi concept and replaced them with regular Carbuncles and more "Trances", we would still run into the problem that your idea would only cover a limited number of Primals.
Instead of, you know, every single one that was released post-ARR (ex. Ravana, Bismarck, the Warring Triad, etc.).

So...I'm gonna have to completely disagree with your suggestion there.

Egi-glamours are definitely the way forward from here on out (so we can finally get Egi(s) of Primals we've been missing for years now).
