My comm goes to the person who earns it.

If there's a standout DPS, they get it everytime as that's something I really appreciate in pugs.

If the tank carries the run and makes my job a dream, they get second pick for me.

I legitimately can't remember the time I commended my co healer. I've been fortunate enough to have pretty much healed alongside the who's who of top flight EU healers over the years, a pug is going to have tough time making me take note =(

Just curious.
The healer could have insulted someone during the instance or is just playing worse than the others for example. These are some of the reason why i don't always give the com to the healer, despite my main role for years now is healing. I try to decide who gets the com depending on, who did the best job in my opinion, had an good attitude or was just fun to do the content with. I had some interesting and funny small talks during an content before and imo it isn't all about skill in this game. How friendly is someone? How fun is it to play with someone, despite her/his skill maybe not being extremely high? How is her/his attiude? Is (s)he trying or just trolling? Who did take her/his time and helped after someone said (s)he is "first timer" here and asked for help? All that matters imo.

Very much this, seeing great DPS in the Duty Finder is always a nice surprise and almost always merits a commendation, not to mention tanks who can pull big and rotate cool-downs efficiently, drastically cutting down on the required healing leaves more time to pump out damage, which is a win/win for everyone.

healers are hard to judge anyway for their job. something outstanding must happen in order for healer to recieve a comm. usually it has be like, bad tank, who pulls packs, loses aggro, not using cds, but party still survives. or like, party has some party members that fail mechanics badly, so the other person, knowing that, commends healer for suffering through this and keeping group alive notheless. or, if people have parsers running, they can clearly see if healer is pushing his limits (healing big pulls, while keeping a decent personal DPS). but even that wouldn't be the case, because such scenario requires a decent tanks, and tanks are always priority for commendation

I don't generally comm my cohealer even when I can. I have a really great cohealer the vast majority of the time and I don't often get a pug one who stands up to that sort of reliability without entirely sacraficing their personal dps.

Usually I'll wind up comming a dps who does a great job or a tank who smooths things out.

Why should I have to comm the other healer? I mean, for instance if one of the dps performs amazingly, or if the tank is new but shows a vast amount of improvement over the course of the run, why should I feel guilty for not comming the other healer? Personally I don't pay much attention to whether or not I get comms because I understand that there can be a million different reasons why someone might give it to someone else, or even no one at all, other than "OMG they all think I'm bad!"

Generally I default to a dps. I know they rarely get comms compared to healers and tanks, and good dps performance goes more unnoticed than good healing and tanking. I do give it to the other healer if I think they really deserve it but (and this might sound a bit egotistical) they generally aren't up to my level.

This kind of reminds me of a few days ago when I was talking to one of my FC mates and he said he's always upset/irritated when he only gets 2/3 comms in a 4 man when he tanks. I didn't say anything to him about it, but I was definitely thinking he should be ready for disappointment all the time, heh.

Anyway, for me when I heal, I hand out comms a little bit like this

#1: The co-healer that I feel did better then I did, even though I was still really trying to keep people alive(In fact he was probably carrying me cause I got Aetherflow starved and there was still tons of AoE going out or something)

#2: The SMN/BLM/RDM that mana-shifts when I'm really hurting on mana(aka the player did something that really stood out and helped the group big time. Looking at you, PLD who keeps the group from wiping by casting Clemency on the DD in a 4 man cause the healer was careless and died to the boss early on)

#3: The player who talks during a run without causing too much downtime, making a run far more interesting then it normally does. Silent runs, while not boring, are less fun then ones where people talk, so long as it's not trolling or arguing about things.

#4: The co-healer unless the co-healer is doing nothing but damage, cause I don't have a way to tell how good the DD are doing, the tanks seem to be doing the same thing all the other tanks are doing, but I can visibly see what the other healer is doing

#5: Whoever I feel like because at this point I'm just lost

The one thing that overrules it all, is if I'm 4/5 on that comm challenge log but I'm not on the job I'm trying to level. I won't comm anyone in that situation because it's a waste of xp(assuming the job I'm playing is at 70, anyway). Sorry awesome party members!

I almost always comm the dps regardless what I play, unless the tank and healer were friendly and helpful in some way. These two roles already bath in comms. I rather give mine to sprouts or someone who hasn't got a lot of other jobs leveled, provided they weren't terrible dps or annoying through the run. Getting comms as dps when I started playing was a huge motivation for me to play and get better, I hope it has same effect on others.

I will add that having leveled and mained black mage throughout ARR and HW, I absolutely don't mind someone comming them over me as a healer if they are really trying. DPS don't always get the recognition they deserve. We as healers tend to let ourselves get spoiled on the attention we get.
