So you'd rather remove the limit then? So instead of doing 5 experts a week you can do more experts a week? I mean, you already could, if you wanted to that badly.

The weekly cap is there so that you don't have to play 24/7 to keep up. If you want to do away with Tomestones entirely, we could do what WoW did where you farm enemies until you get a shiny legendary and hope it's the one that actually helps you instead of being a useless item, specially when it gets harder and harder to get pieces the more you get. Would you rather that?

If you can't find a reason to play the game, don't play it right now. Wait for the new content. Nobody's gonna kill you over a break.

While I'm in the same boat as you, I'm in that boat precisely because the cap exists in the first place. Despite having all jobs at 70, and most jobs at 60 as far back as Midas tier, it takes nearly the whole tier to save up enough Tomestones to gear up 2 non-compatible jobs. And don't get me started on Savage/hunting and the weekly 24-man drop for upgrades. So... I don't bother with Tomestones once I have my job geared. I just ignore the other 14 jobs (since my job, DRG, doesn't share with anything on left side).

Even if the weekly cap was abolished, there would still be an upper limit in place for each tier. You would, therefore, not have to play 24/7 to keep up - the difference is you could actually play as much or as little as you wanted on your own time, instead of constantly being forced to work on Square's schedule.

Further, the weekly cap hurts people that are coming back from breaks or that may wish to take a break towards the start of a cycle for whatever reason. They have no options of catching/keeping up, because that weekly cap doesn't roll over. Something's come up and you can't play for a week (or more)? Tough cookies, enjoy being behind everyone else.

Not that being behind is terribly relevant unless you're trying to raid or something, but it - like several other things - just sits in opposition to Square's reasoning for them being in place.

People can pay for 6 months of service in advance. If Square's inability to keep them engaged results in them having nothing to do for extended periods for those 6 months, I think it's fair to expect them to complain. And to start questioning why they're subbing to begin with, discount or no.

First off, you already can play to your own schedule. You aren't held at gunpoint to cap. The tome gear is a bonus, and doesn't even have to actually be in the game. If they got rid of tome gear, it'd just mean non-raiders have worse gear, since the raids, according to min Ilvl, are balanced around the crafted gear, or the gear you get from doing the raid on normal. The tome gear exists so non-raiders aren't left to dust.

Second of all, that's part of the catch of taking a break. And that's fine. Do you think people are going to hang you over taking a break and maybe getting a bit behind in gear? As I said the Tome gear is a bonus, a bonus Square doesn't need to put in, but it's there so you have something to do. Changing it means either just getting rid of it outright, which stops hurting raiders after a bit, but non-raiders stay behind, or they could make them random kill drops, meaning you could have people get their full set in a day and others never get it in the patch. Does that sound like fun?

Also this is the catch with paying 6 months in advance. Signed for a commitment, and it's why there's even a discount in the first place. It's not Square's fault if you paid for 6 months and then got bored 1 month in. You could have just paid 1 month.
