Survey complete ^u^
Filled it in, it will be interesting to see the results.

How do you plan on accounting for bias and determining an accurate sample? Forums in general aren't representative of a playerbase as a whole for most games and I suspect your question will lead to a polarized sample instead of a representative one; IE, those that have strong feelings will be more likely to participate than those in the middle.

The survey in and of itself is opinionated, therefore, there is going to be some bias present. For a topic like this one, I feel it is difficult to get people to view the debate in an objective manner. How do you plan on accounting for bias and determining an accurate sample? As for sample size, posting on here and on reddit are the only ways that I feel I can get the information out to people. I am not a well-known player; I am not a game developer; I don't have massive followings on social media or large Discord servers that I am a part of. The most I can do is address in my analysis the size of the data pool once I stop collecting responses, and what impact that has on the results and meaning of the survey.
I personally feel like a lot of surveys like the one I have thought up will have polarized results, because it's hard to get participation from those who just don't care about the subject matter. This was something I experienced a lot of when I was taking research methods in school; apathetic students that were just there to satisfy a class requirement or grade weren't usually inclined to give well-thought out responses because they just didn't care--a lot even left the surveys blank.
In no way do I think this survey will yield largely representative results. I am doing it more so because I am curious, and I want to see what kind of responses I get out of it.

You might actually want to put that at the head of your OP because this will not be a representative sample and will in no way represent the overall ff community feelings on the matter. I'm happy to see at least that you recognize that.

That is a good point to make. I think I’ll do that to clear up any confusion. :3

I can’t be honest and finish your survey as written. I wanted to, you’re one of the few that I really like here.
I am indifferent to parsers.
I have seen terrible players perform terribly over many years and quite simply, I have given up on this community in this regard and simply don’t care anymore.
As such, no matter what, I just don’t care. I do not expect the playerbase as a whole to improve of any significant amount. A parser, group, personal or otherwise is not going to change my lack of faith that the effort to implement one is going to do much of anything. There are too many people who know they aren’t “optimal” and they simply don’t care. Rather than continue to get aggravated by them, I have chosen to throw my arms up and just stop caring. It’s either that or full on quit for me at this point.
They have spent a bit of effort to lower the floor so people can perform better, and that hasn’t helped. It aggravates me, I liked some of those complexities they removed. Adding in a parser to tell people that they are doing poorly won’t help either.m
If you get bored and want to discuss further, I did friend you on Discord some time ago.![]()

That is okay. No hard feelings. :3 I had a feeling some would be unable to provide answers, be it from their own uncertainty or just the fact that this topic has already been beat to death, raised, and then beat to death again.I can’t be honest and finish your survey as written. I really do appreciate your honesty about how you feel though. <3 It is something for me to consider when I look at the data. If you do have any suggestions on how I could have made the survey easier to answer, I would love to hear them as well. :3

Looking forward to the results.
On a slight off-tangent, I speculate the reason for the increase in parser discussion is due to the patch lull. As per usual, age old topics resurface like parsing, healer dps, etc. It really doesn't surprise me to see one topic after another popping up during those lulls.
Pretty certain once 4.2 hits, we're gonna have hundreds of Glamour related topics, that I'm 100% sure of.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
