Just made a funny Praetorium run! It was cool. Me and my sister got there as tanks (me as DRK and she as WAR), and in game we use the same colors and names(I'm Reiyo and she is Reiko, with the same surname). Its not a difficult dg, so we played around a little bit. Like, when she got to stay behind, i said:
"(Reiyo Kuchiki): I'll never forget you, Reiko!"
And cryied a little bit. q And she responded by saying to me that i was the worst brother ever ;-; Anyway, since we were talking and playing, people noticed our names and colors, and started asking. We played around a with them, almost RP-ing. The run was smooth, no casualities, and both me and her got two commendations each! It was fun!

I had an interesting run of Ala Mhigo just now. Yeah... interesting.

So the start already has me rolling my eyes. One of the SAMs runs off ahead before I can set up Protect and pulls the first 3 mobs. Great. Now I have to cast Protect a second time and trail behind the DRK who is just blazing to the gate even after the other SAM mentioned lag. Ookay whatever.

I soon realize that no body really understands how to properly dodge aoes. I constantly have to spend Benediction or Tetra to top off one of the SAMs meaning it cuts into my DPS which sucks because the tank is pulling literally everything gate to gate. So that's fun. Like the pull with the 2 Gorillas? I didn't have Bene which really sucked because one of the SAMs got murderized by the first boss and dropped to like 1000 HP with the DoT on.

Things really get bad after the second boss, after the first gate you need to destroy. The tank pulled everything to the second gate, which is fine I've done the pull before, but I was lagging behind a bit. Their health was dropping and I'm trying to get Bene off but it won't because they decided to pull everything up to the gate, which is around a corner. So they die just as Bene goes off (of course right?). I need LoS to be able to heal. Just saying. A wipe happens. They then do the same pull again but I don't have Bene now so yay? I flub up, I admit that, I decided to try to get a Holy out instead of using Cure II and the tank went down. Followed by "ookay" and "i guess the old way". Okay, I'll admit the second time was on me but there was literally nothing I could do the first time. If you're going to run off and leave us in your dust while going around 2 corners I can't help you.

I felt both annoyed and disappointed in myself. I do feel like I did pretty good on Zenos though. All my heals landed right as damage went out and such so that made me feel a little better.

No deaths and even casting stone, clearly a pro healer.

It's less healing sucking me back in and more just an overwhelming urge to not feel the embarassment of wiping on the first boss of a leveling dungeon xD

But yeah, I mean if she can throw out dps I guess that means she's good at her job. My dps probably looked like crap that run too since I had to keep stopping in the middle of things to heal up >.>

Ended up in Skalla tonight for my expert roulette. As soon as the barrier dropped, the tank (with flower icon) ran straight to the left, and then booked it all the way to the right before finally finding the stairs. No biggie - figured it may be their first time back in the dungeon after awhile.

So they proceed to do a full pull all the way to the egg wall, and we're all doing our thing, I start in with my holy spam and then I noticed that I had hate on half the mobs, and the others were bouncing between the DPS and tank. Health bars dropping left and right, just a hot mess. The next pull up to the 1st boss was about the same. And the boss more of the same as well D:

We get the clear, and then the following conversation happens:

i regret not speaking up and declining a full clear in brayflox on my war, but my not giving a response does not also mean that as a dps you're going to pull everything you want to and have the rest of us deal with it all. the ninja took it upon himself to play tank, pulling mobs in the room where the eft boss is and bringing them back to the group. as soon as a pack died, he'd run off to grab another. i had enough, pulled the boss intentionally locking him out and left him to be devoured by the efts and pugils.

we 3 man the boss down and the ninja peels off into the previous room as soon as the gate goes down, taking the healer and other dps with him and by this time, i'm fed up and leave. what's worse was that this guy had all his tanks maxed out-- what's even more worse is that i didn't say anything. :/

Running dark knight and a levelling roulette dropped me into Shusui, there was a rdm, nin and sch. Nice smooth run throughout, except for a couple of random “Manashift Dodged!” appearing on my screen. First time he used it on me, so I thought “oh, ok, maybe he misclicked.” A bit later when my mp dropped to half on a boss it appeared again. I am on a Japanese server so Japanese speakers party save for myself. I think I do have a decent command of the language from classes I took so I said in Japanese “manashift doesn’t work on drk”. Didn’t get any replies but from that point on I didn’t get any of the random “Manashift Dodged!” popup so...yay?

Qued up Sirensong for WT as the last thing before bed. Things are going ok. I'm WHM. The two DPS are DRG and BLM and the tank is... DRK I think. Yeah. This is a fairly easy dungeon, so I'm setting up my DoTs, throwing a Holy in every so often and judiciously applying stone 3 between keeping the tank healed. The DPS are expertly avoiding AoE and things are dying... kinda fast. Maybe? I'm not timing anyone but it seems kind of an average run when we have the Sorry, Not-Sorry DRG/BLM combo. But still, we get to the first boss. And then I notice it.

The BLM is tossing out Thunder 3's like candy and Fire 1's and using Transpose for apparently no real reason. They pop Sharpcast and Enochian and... still no Fire/Ice 4's happen. I don't say anything even though I'm BLM main and this is hurting me in my little black heart. We get to the second Boss. Same thing. I kinda get the feeling that this person is a Jumper so I'm not going to get snarky but when we get thru the next set of adds I ask if the BLM would like an explanation of how BLM works, because I just saw them wait on Convert for MP when they're still throwing out random single-target spells.

Surprisingly everyone waits while I give a very brief explanation of how Astral Fire and Umbral Ice work because that was the thing that screwed me up learning THM, and while it's a clone of some other MMORPG's caster role (coughWoWcough), it works very differently than Black Mage does in the main Final Fantasy series. I figured if this person is indeed a jumper, then that will at least help get the basic rotation down.

And we finish the dungeon (with me really actually making an effort to DPS to make up for the... whatever the BLM was putting out). I don't know if the person was embarrassed at being called out or was seriously just being lazy but if it was the latter, it was the most disrespectful crap ever. The tank wasn't pulling large enough for us to wipe, and I wasn't paying attention to the DRG to see what they were doing but they were keeping their damage buff up at least. But still. Not a single flare. Or lvl 4 spell. What-the-actual-fuck.

...Wow, that person sure set up their 7-year old for failure.
Even ignoring the factor of the game being rated 12 and up:
Throwing someone straight into level 70 content is a bad idea, there are too many skills to just learn that fast.
Throwing someone straight into level 70 group content is an even worse idea, since then you have to deal with others doing stuff while still figuring things out, when those other people by all logic should be able to expect up-to-par play (although with this whole thread working as a counter argument to that).
Throwing someone straight into level 70 group content as a tank is the worst idea, since the tank holds so much responsibility, which this person is obviously not going to be able to handle (see points 1 and 2).

Well, at least they were trying to show the kid a good game. Good intentions and all that.

You're giving the parent too much credit and overthinking it - I don't think the kid cares how well they can/can't tank in level 70 content. He's playing the game with the guy with the sword and shield that kill the monsters and probably has a limited understanding that the other people in the dungeon are not actually NPCs.

The fact is the parent put the kid in level 70 group content with literally no regard or empathy for the other three people in the group.

If you want your child to piss about for a little bit on your character, either do it in the open world on solo content or do something that isn't going to cause a problem for anyone else.

Ran through a Labyrinth of the Ancients for the poetic farm last night as Astro. The other healer in my group was a whm. He was wearing a cheetah print speedo. He proceeded to spam party poppers throughout the raid, dance during boss fights, and pat dead allies' corpses (only died if they missed mechanics).

Was a fun run even though I was really the only healer in my group! Was entertaining to watch his antics, and LotA is not particularly difficult to heal. Made for good times :]
