    Yep double checked and it seems like its the new trend, currently the NA version does not state this.

    If this is not addressed in the live letter I will be canceling my preorder. I am going to vote with my wallet. That is anti consumer move to change distribution of merch codes this way.

    Do bonus item codes give me the in-game item for all of my service accounts?

    Item codes can only be redeemed for a single service account, but not for an entire Square Enix account (which may possess multiple service accounts). All characters on all Worlds on the designated service account will receive the bonus item(s).

    Please note that you can choose which service account you wish to register the item code to during the redemption process.

    Only reason I can think of is to push people away from creating hundreds of alts, thus somewhat(in a backhanded way) helping to alleviate some of the server strain for storing all that data, freeing up more to be used by new players. Though I can't say that with 100% certainty, that's the first thing that came to mind.

    Can't say I don't echo this sentiment. While I dislike how most Cash Shop outfits are per character, at least that has always been the case. To abruptly change merchandise codes after four years feels incredibly scummy. If nothing else, this definitely needs to be a question at their next Q&A.

    All they're doing with this move is pushing people AWAY from purchasing them even once. I got the Eorzean Symphony assuming I'd get the orch rolls account wide. However, the Wind-Up Yotsuyu minion can be forgotten about as far as I'm concerned. I'm not bothering with it. And if the trend going forward is single character only, I'll buck them off too. I wonder if we could potentially file a class-action lawsuit against SE for anti-consumer practices?

    The thing is, with stuff like the Minions, Orchestrion Rolls, Mounts, and Armoire, it uses the same amount of data in keeping track if you have it or not. Like the Armoire uses the same amount of data for everyone. It's just either a "Yes" or a "No" for each item in there. It could be about the mailing system instead, but there's never been issues with it before.

    But the kicker is just the complete lack of communication and they try to sneak this change in. There is no transparency at all, and it's sickening.

    Someone on reddit also mentioned how, when people make alts but don’t log into them frequently, a lot of mail just sits there, and could be taking up data space. Not sure how much data that would actually be or if it’s actually an issue with regards to server strain, but a simple work around (if this is indeed the issue and not just greed) would be for the “Request Reward Delivery” to simply push the items to the character whenever they log in and use the feature. Instead of the mail just sitting there until the owner logs in to claim the items.

    If it's a data problem then they need to look into solutions such as making collectable items account wide so they're stored once for the account.

    Very disappointing change from SE.
    No, I don't "need" every collectable on every character but I don't appreciate this change happening with no communication after 4 years of account wide items.

    I'm not happy with this action. It's very shady to service for all service accounts for 4 years and then up and change to single character. Personally, I would like to know the reasoning as to why it is single character only, because maybe it sheds some light to the situation, but if we don't get a reasoning... I'm not happy that my alts on the US datacenters will not enjoy this minion, while my EU main will.
