My only issue with the binding mechanic is that housing items could do with a brief timer - say, one minute after placing the item - to decide that it doesn’t look right and you want to sell it instead. You can wear equipment and not have it bound to you until you use it in battle, but furniture doesn’t have that leeway.

I like this. Wouldn't even have to be a timer, but based on sessions - a minute isn't enough to see how an item interacts with several others, or for you to try things by moving items around.
You go into the room and you can do whatever you want with it without it binding until you leave the room. When you want to leave, you get a prompt reminding you you have new items in the room and they will bind if you don't remove them. Only exception to this general guideline would be items you can interact with, where if you interact with them, they bind to get around exploiting crafting facilities or mail boxes.

This is an annoyance for me as well. I don't see why the items have to bind instantly, even when you are still in housing mode placing other items. It would be nice if they bound once you exited the housing mode, or even upon exiting your room (like the suggestion above).

I have so many items that I removed almost instantly because I didn't like how they looked when placed - and now I'm stuck with the things.
