I don't give two hoots about a statue, but I would like the emote.

Unfortunately, since it's locked behind a $120 joint purchase, they'll be getting $0 from me :<

I love the emote. I could buy the statue if I wanted but... I just really don't want it. Nor will I spend that money for just the emote alone. Oh well, sad is sad. There will be more emotes later.

Yet quite some people already wrote that they would buy the statue even without the emote and on top of that those are limited anyway. So you will probably have some that only bought them for the emote but you will have more than enough that would have bought it without them.

They could simply put the emote in the mog station after some time. So people would have their exclusive emote for some time and yet others still get the chance to own them. And all those that did not get the chance to own the statue (because its limited) or just want the emote thus did not buy it would then spend money on this too so even more money for SE.

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

    It's a good compromise

I mean in the end they are a business and want to make more money and maybe they would earn more if they make it statue exclusive..but only if that statue was not limited. But since its limited they can only sell a certain amount anyway. And seeing how many people are playing FF14 around the world I cant just see how the statue would not have sold out even without the emote. But putting them into the mog station would give them even more money since now even those that wanted the emote but did not get it because of the price or the limit can buy it and since not everyone would simply pay real money it would still stay exclusive in a way.

The statue with the CEs are completely different. First they are real life goods and thus cant be compared to the emote. I was still able to get every single digital good out of the CE without even buying it because they gave us the option to have it digital too. So it seems that selling them outside of the real CE is good. (And they got more money from someone like me because those digital goods were the only reason why I bought the more expensive version but I would not have paid for the one with the statue..so if they had done it like they do it with Odin and Shiva, they would have gotten less money from me. And I am quite sure I was not the only one.)

[Some here truly sound like: Well I have the money and I hope those that dont will never get it. Which is not a really good way of living imo. At least with the veteran rewards (which I argued against them making it that much easier) it was something anyone would get over time, while the statues and even things like PVP mounts will just be something limited, so its kinda different. Also if its such a good business pratice, why do they go against it so often? Why do the release older exlusive stuff in the mog station, why give us the digital goods from the expensive CE, why give us the options to buy the minions from the fanfest through streams? They could have simply been an exclusive item for those that went to the fanfest.]

But they'd make more money from selling in the mog station as they are selling an item they do not have to physically produce (with all the accompanying issues like quality control, physical overheads, administration and sales staff and refunds etc) plus given the increasing player base you'd get far more people willing to spend a fiver than a higher amount on a statue. They'd make so much more money and have a happier community!
I'm guessing that the statue cost £50 to produce (that's including the design etc), some money for the physical overheads, the emote not that much to produce as it was already in game, so their profit from selling a statue for £120 is not that much, whereas thousands of players buying just the emote from the mog station....

Looks like Square-Enix still has a lot to learn from EA and Bungie. xD

The sad irony is that a lot of the people complaining about the emote being tied to the statue would continue to complain if it had been a Mogstation purchase, saying that it should have been included in the game for free.

I don’t care about the exclusivity of DLCs; I think they should be made available via several venues (e.g., plushies, statues, art books, albums, Mogstation). But a lot of people just want everything for free. SE is a business. If people stopped buying external DLCs, SE would just stop allocating the funds to even make them—they wouldn’t automatically become available for free in-game: they just wouldn’t be made at all.

I totally disagree with a cash shop being in a sub game (IMHO everything in game should be earnable in game) , but that aside if SE want the funds then why not make it available for all? I thought they were struggling for funds and using ff14 to prop up everything else (not sure, all gossip lol)

Because the emote is entirely designed as an incentive for the statue, just like minions being incentives for plushies. It makes the product more attractive and generates more sales. They are available for all in that you are able to go online and purchase them, if people don't like the price or purpose, unfortunately that isn't SEs problem or fault

My only issue with these codes is availability, the price and purpose is fine as is.
