How is crafting and gathering a flaw? You've never taken the time to level your crafting/gathering classes. Getting ONE crafting class to level 30 doesn't give you the proper perspective to judge whether or not it's a flawed system, and your one DoL job is fishing (which is soul crushing in every game that it's in.) The "real" crafting starts when you level cap. Leveling crafting and endgame crafting is two different things. Is it the funnest thing to level? Maybe not, but leveling a DoW/DoM job from 1 to 30 can be tedious too and isn't a reflection of class at level 70. Just imagine a level 15 Marauder declaring that the warrior class sucks and is flawed.

You can also make gil when leveling if you gather the right stuff. SE makes a habit of having mats from all levels so, for example, most of SB ingots take mats you gather from level 1 ~ 50. There's also crystal farming, which becomes available at level 25 nodes. You can make a ton off that.
