You have your opinions that "99.999%" of these rules are unwritten, and that the majority of people care about these incorrect adverts, consider them spam, consider them a discourtesy, etc.. Not sure why OP is so obsessed with this, report them and move on. It's really obvious that you don't want to hear that this is your option but reporting and moving on is all you can do. 4 pages of arguing and restating your point hasn't gotten you anywhere, nor will 100 pages.

problem with that is it can be defeated..much like RMT advertisers...randomly generated bots to just post parties...etc.

Then the whole point is moot from the beginning because SE's answer to pretty much anything that annoys you via text display such as spam and/or RMT advert is to blacklist and/or report. Honestly though, at the end of the day, you choose how much of annoyance ad spam is going to be for you. I'm on Sarg where gold selling bots are always on. Never the same one within hours but always. The PFs have 3-5 listings a day selling runs. This is not a new problem and at the risk of sounding cynical, its not going to end anytime soon.

If people want to fight the good fight by crusading against these things, fine but truth be told, they're the ones putting their mental health at risk of an issue they have zero control over. Threads like these are not gonna "wake up" GMs into action because they're always working on the endless issue.

This is my final input for this thread: just report your suspicions and move on. Keep pushing for a PF blacklist to soothe your eyes but first work on not getting worked up over things you have barely an inch of investigative powers as SE does.

Just putting my 2 cents in, read up to page 9 but same stuff was being repeated so whatever if this has been been noted already. I'd just like to point to the fact that when you open the Party Finder the first time, it defaults to the Data Center tab. You will see some parties in Data Center tab that should be in World tab because people making these parties know that Data Center is defaulted and believe many players wont check the world tab. So they make a party in the Data Center tab with whatever party type that will bump them to the top of the list so they can be the first party to be seen at the top of PF and whatever they are advertising will have a better chance to get seen. I suspect if Square Enix made the World tab the default tab when you open party finder, you'd see a lot less parties in Data Center tab that don't belong.

Maybe they put it in the cross world PF as people rarely look at the one for the server.

The Data Center tab shows everything but private listings. If you make a listing and select to have it shown only on your server, anyone on that server will see the listing in both the Data Center and World tabs, with it being a different color than other listings in the Data Center tab.

Nothing would change if the World tab was made the default tab, or if you had to opt in to have it shown across the data center, because the intent is to advertise to as many people as possible.

So what if world was made the default view, and the datacentre tab only showed cross-realm parties. World only parties would not display on the data centre tab (nor would PFs hosted by players on the same realm as you, they would also be dumped in the World tab). Would that change anything?

1. It's spam - Other examples of spam include FC recruitment and Casinos, but blacklisting takes care of those fast and with ease. No such option exists with the PF.

The ideal solution would be to add a way to filter out such advertisements in the cross-server PF, but that won't happen anytime soon.

1. FC recruitment is spam? Not sure I follow you there. Advertising runs through in game content is not spam.

2. Not sure how you are so sure RMT is involved in this. Is it possible, sure. But without any actual evidence of it the claim is baseless.
