Okay, this happened to me last week I think.
My brother and his girlfriend convinced me to tank Raban for the first time. I was absolutely terrified because I never tanked a 24 man raid before. I told the party I was new to tanking the raid (they were all super nice about it too - a few of them even gave me some tips too. I wish I could've given them all a comm)
My beef comes from the other PLD tank. Let's call him B. The MT d/c's in the middle of the second boss. Somehow tank B is dead so I provoke. After a minute or two I realize I don't have hate and that B has taken it back. Okay, into sword oath I go. We end up wiping somehow. The original MT is replaced with a WAR. Fast forward 3rd boss. I wait for B to pull since he seems to want to play the provoking game. He doesn't budge, so WAR pulls and B immediately provokes off of the. WAR provokes back and B uses Ultimatum. WAR gives up and lets them tank.
On the final boss I ended up MTing since it seemed like the WAR didn't want to have a provoking contest with B. Once again it didn't seem like B was gonna pull so off I ran in and he provoked as soon as I established hate. If you wanna MT just do it! If someone already has hate and they aren't dead or there isn't a swap or they MT isn't messing up terribly, just let them tank.
But other than that, it was a lot of fun tanking raban.

Sohr Khai. I was tanking on my Famfrit Alt Everyone else was New so I gave tips on the fights and let them take thier time to enjoy the cutscenes and the sights we all chatted for a bit and had a really good time despite both dps dying to the platform killer like 10% from the end we all laughed about it and I finished the fight with the healer keeping me up from a safe spot. Thanked everyone for the party and when I left 3 coms I felt humbled. I love runs like that.
To the healer: Sorry I didnt get a chance to Com you cause you left too soon
To the Dragoon: Hope you enjoy the rest of the content Stormblood is the Awesome.
To the Summoner: Damn Good handling of ifrit the placement was superb I could see what was going on when I accidentally zoomed in.
To the party entire: I wish I could have Commed all of you parties like you are the reason I love this game.

I had an off night last night doing my weekly run of Rabnasty, which wasn't helped at all by the fact that apparently one of my player effects settings got reset somehow. So instead of both party and other player's visual effects both being limited, only the party effects were limited. This led to me hardly being able to see a fair amount of signals and certain AoEs, among other things, when I was already not at my best. I even ended up getting crushed by one of Hashmal's dang towers for the first time ever... If I wasn't resurrected right away I would have facepalmed at letting that happen. I did notice things seemed a bit laggy after the whole thing was done, so that possibly contributed, but honestly I think I was just having a bad night for some reason. But one moral of the story: Always double check your settings when you login!

So, I don't know if it's just me but I feel like lately, I'm meeting a lot more salty/resentful higher level players in lower level dungeons than I did when I started playing in July. I'm learning how to tank and I'm using DRK because it's the one I like and the one a friend of mine mains so he can help me when I get a bit higher level and he's not busy raiding. I watch videos, I read stuff here on the forums, and I've gone through the NN training. When I go into a dungeon (usually Brayflox since I know it so well from farming it as a BLM for the battlemage outfit, the coat of which has never dropped for me), I immediately mention that I'm a new tank and I'm just learning, so please forgive any sloppiness; and that any pointers are welcome. Invariably then, 2-3 other players take it upon themselves to tank the dungeon. In Brayflox today, I couldn't quite figure out where to move the dragon since both higher level players were standing in the middle of the room (and because this is my second or third time tanking it) and I didn't want to face the dragon back towards the others. All they kept saying was "move", "move", "move" and while I was trying to say that I didn't know where to move Altair to, I died. Just then, one of them uses limit break, dragon dies, and they both leave as fast as they could. I made mistakes throughout the dungeon, sure, and I learned from them, but it just kind of chafes me the way a lot of the players I've met in lower levels are these days and I don't remember it being like that this summer. They were actually the nicer of the higher levels I've met in low level areas. The worst was the WHM a few days ago, but I've also met people telling me to give up on DRK or that I just generally shouldn't be playing the game at all.
It's a roulette for a reason. You take your chances on what you're given and everyone has to go through the same content at some point*. Not all of us were playing this game when everyone else started and even if we were, some of us are learning new classes. I get that no one really likes doing Sastasha or Copperbell or Brayflox for the zillionth time, but it's just the way it is. Maybe try not to be resentful of that and offer the newbies (or new-to-class) some help seeing as you're stuck in there with them anyway.
*Well, I guess not everyone has to go through the content. We could use job potions - - - oh, but then people complain about those people not knowing how to play their class (and I don't disagree with those sentiments). It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, I feel.
Canadian, eh!"When someone told me I live in a fantasy land, I nearly fell off my unicorn"

I was in your group. It was nice that one of the other alliances also had people not going to their sand orbs and dropped a second stack marker on our group and rather than eat it tried to stack with us as we were stacking for our own. lol. No new player message at the beginning either.
Trust me, it's not you, it's them.
Part of this can be the difference in gear. While usually minimal, it does affect the run. Sometimes it could be because when you get level synced you may(not saying this happens, but I've seen it happen to others, and done it myself a few times) forgotten to put up Grit. But at the same time, DPS do have enmity mitigation skills, some refuse to use it sadly.Invariably then, 2-3 other players take it upon themselves to tank the dungeon.
In a situation like that boss, where he randomly selects who to throw his bile puddle under, even if it will face him towards party members, it's best to just move him out of the puddle in whatever direction you can(iirc he is the only boss that actually heals himself from that type of thing, so you don't need to worry too much about it later on, but keep it in mind for DPS positionals - always try moving bosses out of puddles/turning them to so a flank and the rear are access able). In Brayflox today, I couldn't quite figure out where to move the dragon since both higher level players were standing in the middle of the room (and because this is my second or third time tanking it) and I didn't want to face the dragon back towards the others. All they kept saying was "move", "move", "move"

Oh hey, no kidding lol! Not to mention I don't think a lot of other people focused much on the water spheres at Mateus during the sk8er girl phase. At least the water spouts got plugged up anyway, but still didn't save us from the wipe when everything exploded at the end of the phase. Eh, bad runs happen. Hopefully next time goes more smoothly.
