Your explanation of "chi" is pretty much an explanation of how MP works, all you did was replace 'MP' with 'Chi'. And sure the word 'Chi' would fit nicely but other than that, how would it differ gameplay wise? Which is what everyone is complaining about.

I can agree with you on that, MP works just fine. What we need to know is if the means of regenerating MP they are giving us are sufficient. If Pugilist/Monk has a reliable means of generating enough MP to sustain their skills and abilities, then that's fine. I'll love every single one of these changes if we can sustain our own MP.

Lol I knew someone was gonna say this.

The difference is you're not using up mp that can be used for actual MAGIC like cure, stoneskin, raise, etc, etc..

On paper they look the same, but in the game the difference would be extremely apparent. I would never have to say "Oh, I can't use this ability or that one because I only have limited MP left and I need to save it for cure if needed."

With a chi based system, you don't have to limit your core PGL/MNK actions at all but it still retains its uniqueness that SE seems to be shooting for.

Almost, but not quite. PGL can't melee in passive mode.

Right now it's way too early to tell. The new structure might require a lot of finesse by the player and that's something that is a little refreshing. If the abilities are strong then having a limiting mp pool might be the balance the class needs. Plus it seems that they've built in a decent amount of mp regen abilities across the classes, so yes the class might be more dependent on the rest of the party but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just means more strategy. We also haven't seen class traits yet.
