This pretty pedantic...http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/63104

Half the posts in any thread have little substance and are, in essence, "bump" posts.
Kinda like what you just posted...
But I guess "man, they should really amp up that Fire IV potency" is fine, even though it's been said 50 times x)
That's debatable, since "man they should really amp up that Fire IV potency" is simple concise and is still part of the discussion. But y'know if you want to get really into the nitty gritty you can take a look at page 70 of the giant Black Mage thread and the passive aggression lying within.
But it doesn't really add anything, as it's been said a thousand times (it's in the title of this thread too). Most posts are just repetitions of the same handful of points, so they're effectively "bumps for awareness". When something's a hot topic, that's just what ends up happening. That's debatable, since "man they should really amp up that Fire IV potency" is simple concise and is still part of the discussion. You're right in that we have a mega-thread for this issue and everyone should make an effort to put any feedback/opinion/bump there to keep the forums tidy and just agglomerate all voices on one spot.
This "ten threads about the same topic" thing we have going on (and the jp forums don't seem to) is kinda silly, but I guess frustrated people just want to be heard...
(There's an argument around those pages that isn't really passive-aggressive. It's just aggressive)
exactly what I think , I find playing BLM fun for their pure damage , I hope they stay that wayWhat the devs need to see is our cries for more damage. Not for utility, not for a raise (because let's be honest, in the current lore, BLM having a raise would not fit at all) and certainly not for anything that hurts our identity. We need more damage.
We're the pure DPS. This means that versus other classes who can fling a buff out (Including and most importantly Summoner at this moment and also Samurai) we should be outdoing them in DPS. By a pretty wide margin, actually, to make up for our lack of support.
@Galvuu I'd recommend just adding him to your ignore list, as none of his responses are insightful and most of them are pretty inflammatory, especially his responses to my own posts (it is very true that I have made some less-than-friendly posts myself, but certainly most of them are at least insightful though indignant, rather than simply petty). It's been quite a relief for me. Furthermore, in my bump post I went on to explain why and relate it to other important discussion, not JUST "bump" with no context. I offer no apology for this.
@itti18, the more you dwell in these threads, the more you'll come to understand the prevailing idea that "pure damage" is not only false on the job currently but not plausible in this game in general. Parties want people to synergize with and to be buffed by them, not to feed specific people that offer nothing. This is a no-brainer, and something that really needs to be addressed. Utility (see also: damage) almost universally beats out "pure" damage due to the nature of burst windows. This is a pretty big dilemma right now for endgame.
We speculated in one of the threads a while back that it's highly likely that the developers do not test things in groups but rather in vacuums, so Trick Attack is "balanced" by lower personal damage from the NIN, but when Trick Attack is added to a combination of Foe Requiem, Battle Voice/Battle Litany every 3, Dragon Sight, Hypercharge, Radiant Shield, Devotion, or Embolden (not to mention spread Balance and Chain Stratagem+Fey Wind), it becomes increasingly clear that four DPS jobs that have high utility for each other can stack together far better than one job that is "purely selfish", ESPECIALLY BLM with it's "consistent" damage with nothing to offer during a two minute burst phase window.

TIL disagreeing with Llugen means you're uninsightful. Not liking you isn't inflammatory, you just treat almost everyone as if they have 0 perspective and come into every single caster thread regardless if they even mention BLM and sputter about BLM. It's your own fault if people decide to call you on your crap.
Note I tried being respectful and polite multiple times and you still responded with either snark, superiority, or both. I simply decided it wasn't worth the effort on my part.

Only if the tuning of the synchro dmg beats the personal dmg though, in mmos pure dmg does beats utility if it's strong enough, it happened on release with SAM, it happened on spine of deathwing with arcane mages and be sure that it'll happen again.
That is not an absolute rule.
.... So almost universally, exactly like I said. And to be honest it didn't really happen at 4.0 launch with SAM, the only reason SAM "fell out of power" was because power creep from the other jobs for synergy (and because it was pretty simple and therefore easy to progress on, or so the SAMs in my groups have told me).
And as I pointed out previously, even if they increased BLM's damage by a large margin, lowered damage from losing uptime during mechanics would basically negate it anyway. Again, all for strategy, but there's only so much planning you can do when you have to move so constantly (unending coil).
