If a Paladin does tanking better than a Gladiator...well...what else do you really use Gladiator for besides tanking? While I'm sure there are people who would like to throw on some cross class skills to form a makeshift DD, ultimately Paladin can replace Gladiator in tanking situations all around. Same with White Mage replacing Conjurer in any given healing role.

IF the above ends up being the case, sure, phase out classes and I'll be ok since I won't actually lose any levels. (Since 1 Class level = 1 Job level).

But IF the classes still remain useful even with the implementation of jobs, then by all means, keep them.
How about you can't enter to fight hard mode ifrit without jobs? or do dungeon that = 8 players? that mean even if PUG is better DD in the eyes of the players it does not matter and it should really be like that can't enter without a job.
