I did a leveling roulette on my RDM the other day. I had a ilevel of 111 and it threw me into a level 55+ dungeon. Thankfully my friend who I queued with was a 70 nearly max gear tank who pulled the DPS I lacked (though I was second on DPS ironically, he was first).

This reminded me of playing a DK while leveling when 3.3 was out and had something similar. It was rough. While I had unlocked and completed the dungeon on my then geared White Mage easily. The leveling roulette did NOT check my item level for a different class. All it checks (at least then and it seems to do the same now) is your level and doesn't seem to care what gear you have.

So its not elitist to call for a gear check on leveling roulettes to determine which dungeon you get. Its needed. I don't want to queue and be thrown into a dungeon I'm not capable of doing. For many of my classes I have gear waiting for them (since many share gear). So I don't want to buy the stuff inbetween. I'm perfectly fine with getting Sastasha for my roulette if that's all I'm capable of doing.

The problem with roulettes is that it's exploitable. Imagine tanks and healers who'll pull this off and make queueing for anything over even harder than it already is. If anything, when it comes to roulettes, I see them doing the reverse - forcing you to have a minimum ilvl based on your level so that you'll be able to clear your on-level dungeon. If you're not leveled enough for the roulette, run your on-level dungeon or whatever you can run a couple of times and get better gear. Buy vendor gear even. This entire debate is to try and mitigate situations where you're levels upon levels behind what you're supposed to have, not endorse it.
