Honestly, it sounds a bit like confirmation bias on your part. Someone parked on a quest giver for a couple of minutes is an inconvenience and yes, a little inconsiderate. But due to your obvious dislike of mentors as soon as you saw the crown you made the jump from something mildly annoying and possibly an unintentional mistake to something maliciously intended and purposefully directed at you and anyone else inconvenienced by it. Given the scanty evidence it's impossible to tell which was the case. Had he not had a crown would you have been more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt? Would you have been more willing to simply let it go rather than letting it gnaw on you like it obviously has been since you are still sore about it?

Some players are jerks. A lot are good people. Some are mentors. Some are not. All of those aspects overlap each other, but none of them constitute the entirety of any other group. Judge people on their behavior, not what symbol they may or may not have next to their name.

Tangentially related, if you hold down X (if you are on PC,) it allows you to click through other players to interact with NPCs or other items in the world. Hope that helps you should a similar situation arise in the future.
Dear Rymm. You are missing the whole Point. A Mentor is set to be a good example for new Player. And not only for them...

I know. But why do I have to do it anyway if it could be easily avoided by not blocking the NPC?
It was a stupid show off. So he could be sure that everyone had to notice his awesome chair. Simple as that.

Then no one would run it ever. On one hand maybe that's a good thing seeing how the only things that aren't covered by another roulette right now is the 8-player raids which by any right should have their own roulette, and the extreme primals who, by any right, should have PFs up for serious clears, although I can see how new players who run that content straight might not even know about PF to begin with. But then we might as well do away with the entire system because between the mess the NN can be on some servers and people already bailing from the roulette, it's arguably a pointless system anyway. But as I said before, this was all a clever ruse to try and fill queues and that's why there's such a big award locked behind such a ridiculous number of roulettes.

Honestly I don't know why EX primals get added to the roulette. Most take hours to help a new group clear, and even then most do them unsynced to take every gear advantage possible. Even now clearing Sephi X and Nid X and Thordan X are still some of the most ridiculous fights to get a party going for. For the 2.0 primals its worse cuz alot of people never did those synced, and the ones that did (like me) don't want to go through that bullshit again. Would I leave? no. But its a reason why I don't queue for mentor roulette either. I don't mind helping raids/primals/dungeons but for some groups, there just simply isnt enough time in one instance which is why party finder is just better...

You can't get exp from Mentor Roulette as you can only queue for it on max level jobs with high enough ilevel for every duty in the roulette (and you must have cleared every duty in the roulette at least once as well). Presumably this is to stop people from purposely going on low level jobs to avoid harder duties.
The only reward for Mentors is a small amount of tomes once per day and credit towards the related achievements.

Frankly I think it would be better for the system if there were no rewards so only people interested in helping would queue but that would hurt the overall goal of the roulette to fill queues that have been waiting awhile.

Well, if you made an Extreme Primals Roulette, and a Full Party Raids Roulette, then you'd have all bases covered via roulettes. Then, you can safely get rid of the rewards from Mentor Roulette (or make it a stonkingly high amount of completed roulettes for the mount, say 5 trillion), and that would put off the glory seekers. Oh and any successful report against you from a player while the crown is on (that turned out to be less than expected behaviour from SE for mentors), and they can reset your progress back to zero. Say for example bailing from a duty without helping, SE could reset you to 0 for that (with some automated systems to augment it).

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I find it interesting how you talk about how easy it is to become a mentor while also talking about how undesirable you apparently find it to level a DPS and Healer job to 60 in the same post, when every single "bad" mentor somehow managed to do it.

The mentor system isn't about being an absolute master of every aspect of the game, it's about having enough experience and willingness to help new players find their footing in the game. I'm not condoning rage quitters, but if you're going to try to criticize the ones that try to stick it out but perhaps aren't as skilled or knowledgeable about certain Primal EX fights or raids, you may want to at least get a Healer and a DPS job to 60 so you don't come across as a hypocrite. (Again, seeing as how all those bad, rage quitting mentors managed to do it...)

I'd like to see mentor roulette only include leveling roulette duties, maybe 50/60 as well cause of jump potions or whatever they're called. Many of the current mentoring duties just don't lend themselves to mentoring very well. If a group of sprouts don't know their DPS rotations, a duty with a dps check / enrage + endgame level mechanics isn't a good place to be learning it.

I agree with you. Savage and EX primals aren’t really the best place for the Mentor/sprout relationship to occur.

To be honest, where does this idea come from that mentors must be these perfectly behaved angels of human beings? None of us are, so stop acting like mentors must be perfect all the time. And as to why a mentor would quit a Ramuh extreme? Well, I've done 2000 mentor roulettes and as soon as I did my 2000th one, I almost burned down my computer so I never have to see the two words "Mentor Roulette" ever again. Sprouts are way more disgusting than any of the mentors I have seen in my Astrope run. Self entitled asshats who think mentors are there to carry them and literally waste hours of their time on content you should not even be queueing for at this stage. You want an extreme clear for a primal? You make a party finder where you do it unscynced. And if you do want to experience the fight synced, then you make a party finder. In my 2000 mentor roulettes, I have probably wasted hundreds of hours teaching people extremes when they are dumber than a disabled chair. Think of that the next time a mentor quits an extreme primal. They are human too and you will do well to remember that.

You don't have to be perfect, but uh.....this is proof you should not be a mentor.....Yes you're human, but it doesn't give you an excuse to be a jerk. We're all human. You would do well to remember that.
