I played around with this glitch today and made new breakthroughs in it after figuring out how the glitch itself actually works. It has nothing to do with placing items against a wall. By placing the cursor on any surface area (which all walls have a small surface area protruding) you can place any floor items on that surface. This also works for any surface area that you shouldn't be able to place floor furnishings on including the hand railing balisters, the stairs, the small landing on stairs you normally would have to glitch furnishings onto. Just as well you do not actually need a wall furnishing to perform the glitch (except to get it on that tiny part of the protruding part of the wall) and can just place the items directly onto these surfaces using the place subcommand after deciding where you want it placed.

Another slight effect of this is that certain table furnishings that have surfaces you are not allowed to put furnishings on, such as the top of a Ash Cabinet, you can use the place subcommand to put tabletop furnishings on those surfaces. Sadly you still cannot put floor furnishings on placeable tables in this fashion.

It also seems you can use the glitch to place wall hangings on areas that normally you are not allowed like the side of the staircase.

Or as an alternative way to place windows on partitions. Just make sure you're facing it straight so it is applied straight.

For those still having troubles with getting a stage to clip into the wall toggle the snap grid off and move the wall hanging until the arrows around the cursor reflect a surface area instead of the wall and you will be able to place the stage.
