No, its actually not clear. You assume everyone in the game is educated, that may not be the case.

Those who have been taught this, may never have used it in years and may have forgoten. Some may simply not recal which is Horiontal axis and which is vertical axis?

What a wonderful opportunity for the game to teach them something that also translates into real life. Learning the universal system for reading coordinates. This will save them potential embarrassment in public of having to have it explained to them.

This game should be more educational I think. Like the new Pakistani Sesame Street, only for MMORPG players.

I haven't used x, y coordinates for my real life use for ages. I don't have a major that uses it on a day to day basis nor have any need for it in practical terms. I don't know about you, but when I tell someone to meet me somewhere IRL, I don't give them freakin' x, y coordinates, I tell them to meet me at a location using words to describe it (in front of the name brand store, next to the parking lot, etc).

I think the x, y system is fine, but I also understand why it can be a pain in the ass, as I often find myself doing double takes when someone gives me coordinates, especially because coordinates are used maybe once or so per week.

The best way to fix it is to simply label the damn coordinates on the map and in game so that there is absolutely zero doubt. That should keep the OP happy.
