That thread would be the place.
I'd suggest looking through the forums some, at the posts discussing the necessity of certain changes - or, in this case, replies discussing why what the suggestions would replace is better as it currently is. It's always easier to point out issues as opposed to good points, but let's see..
Lovely graphics, one of the best character creation systems currently on the market, a nice story, a market system that's enjoyable to use (in my opinion - woo, flamebait!), the Armoury system and its allowing me to play the sort of character I like and not be locked into a single class and look forever (needs tweaks, maybe lots), the leves system as a focal point for party play (whatever tweaks may be needed) .. not to mention the frankly amazing roleplay community, which mayn't be an internal feature but is still vulnerable to encouragement or discouragement by the developers, and its current state hints at something having been done right. Lovely world setting, well written story characters, an enjoyable battle system (whatever tweaks it may need, I hope to heaven they don't replace it with something more generic)..
In other words, as others have said, the game has a very, very exciting and potential filled framework, one that could be built upon with content and adjustments, and that a lot of us would rather not see ripped out.

well let's see i know most of my ls along with members from most of the other ls's i am friends with love the ability to cross class abilities from the classes.
the battle regimen was good in theory, but needs some major tweaks. when i go into a br it should take my tp/mp for that skill from me and put it secondary and allow me to continue to attack. they should add some abilities like the skill chains that could be done from inside the battle regimen using multiple abilities from different classes with good animations for added damage.(they already have debuffs) if a battle regimen gets interrupted put the tp/mp back in the stats cause it was called, but never used.
this game has fantastic graphics but its animations for weapon skills and magics are horrible. i feel they should add some bigger flashy animations when they are used. that way you see what you are doing not just some bland generic thing.
the hold my hand mommy i am scared aggro icon needs to be removed. just add a check action inside the main menu for those that don't know what a mob is to check on what it's strengths/ weaknesses/ passive/ aggressive/ elemental quality is. that way people can check on a mob and really wants the help, but the rest of us can continue with our gameplay as adventurers. it's annoying as my pug most mobs that show aggro no longer aggro on my character, but that ugly red icon is still there.
i understand this game was made for the casual player in mind but there needs to be more stuff geared towards party play. once you get to a higher level the only thing you do is go to another class and fight a few nm's and those same nm's over and over get old.
we need the addition of more class specific abilities obtained through the guilds that cannot be cross classed. luminous spire through the gladiators guild for example. i think we should have more of those for the people that do want to specialize. if they differentiated between base and advanced abilities and let base cross class base, but not the advanced we could have both worlds.
the lact of a decent story i pure hate. the story is there, but is hidden behind the constant grind and by the time you get to the next part of the story you have forgotten the last part of it. this is very un-final fantasyish. i'm accustomed to the i gotta do this or that because i must see what happens next.
optional side quests are really non existent. now the side quests are just a way to use to assist grinding. i would like to see side quests you have to perform to get certain abilities/weapons you cannot get in fighting. the gear should be unique untradable so you can get a set and no more.
introduction of mmo favorites cid/chocobo usage/airship. we see these around, but are not allowed to use them.
ok sorry i took so long on this post, but you did ask what was done right so wanted to post the tweaks that would allow both sides to be happy imo. i did not talk about advanced classes because those have not been added, but are coming so hard to say how to fix/tweak til we see what is right/wrong with them.

Doctormog while you are entitled to your opinion you are in the very very very small minority. Of the hundreds of thousands of people who bought FFXIV only roughly 10% still play. Of that 10% a large percent are hanging on to the game and havent quit BECAUSE of the sweeping changes Yoshi-P has promised. Keeping the game as it is will not bring new players. The game has had 6 months to bring new players with its current mechanics and all it has done is lose customers at a break neck pace.How many of the 30~ thousand players still playing feel similar to you? If changes werent made and the people who want change quit the game would the people who are happy with the game be enough to pay to keep the game online? I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

I really really really want this game to take off. And it's not going to do that by staying the path. Hence the Dev team change, the player polls and the forums for more direct communications and feedback.

Just a wild guess: that self-proclaimed Mog Doctor just realized
that if the rules of Eorzea are fundamentally changed, it will
endanger the advantage he/she gained by mindlessly grinding
through a game almost noone else could bear to play for more
than a few hours per week.
Hint: Sometimes life is fair, and mindlessness is not rewarded.
The Armory System, The Combat System, The Story, The Graphics.
Game needs balance/tweaks and additions to the above systems but the core/vision is solid.
