Now there is a FC on Hyperion who members are NEVER online they log on once just to hold the house and log off never to be seen again until I guess they get the email about the house about to be demolished this is the crap I don't like.... why are you holding a perfectly good plot if you're not going to use it? But it's an issue when we ask to buy people houses but the issue are the people holding houses and not using them.

No, I do not suggest those childish rules, and if it was like YOU just said I would have lost my house already.

In short: on MY server (Omega) population has been rather to the lower end and then the update happened, everybody and their mothers logged in, there was even a queu and login even crashed once. In Kugane at the teleport stone there was a sea of people. I've never seen those people before or that much ... think of quarrymill well the people there times 5 that would be how much I could see. I randomly selected a ward and there in Shirogane was also a flood of people. I hopped on my mount, ran to the plot and to my surprise I could still buy it.

Where are those people now?

I know active players who pretty much log in every other day and don't have a house.
Meanwhile a player that log's in once every 45 days has a house.

This wouldn't be an issue if there was a dynamic system that would add new wards as soon as the others are full, but we don't have that system (not yet?).

This is the first time I own a house, I was looking forward to meet 'active' friendly players but so far I've only seen like 3 people. It's full of houses but it's just a ghost town, I almost never see people there or any chat at all.

The #1 reason I own a house is gardening. I'd purchase a large just for myself if I could just to have 3 garden plots. My small only gives me 1 plot so limits my ability to make gil gardening in comparison. Yes, my house is decorated except the interior since I spent all my gil buying the plot in Shirogane and decorating the outside. Building up some gil and then I'll eventually decorate the interior.

Housing caters different sort of necessities. There are people who enjoy having a house, decorating their garden, interior, doing some seed gardening, and all that while having a retainer bell, a marketboard and a delivery moogle next to them.

And then you have a large (sadly) amount of people that only want to have a house because they are limited. Same reason why people spend 20M on the newest minion only to not care about it a few weeks later when it loses its exclusivity. This large group of people are just spoiled beings who will never be happy because jealousy.

You need to manage your expectations with housing. You're never going to find a super busy ward usually. Alot of ppl use the houses just for gardening. Not everyone is going to use the house the same. Judging people for not using a house or decorating it differently ( or not at all ) is completely a preference and up to the owner. If they got the house, they did what it takes to get one. If people don't have one, there is something they haven't done vs. the people who have gotten one, it is that simple. If people who play daily don't have a house, maybe they need to take step back and see what they need to change to get one. As for everyone being at the Crystal during Shirogane, well yea, every server was that way. Alot of servers have a EU population, and alot of players you never see play at different times, however the patch was at a universal time. Just because people aren't playing when you are and they own a house doesn't mean they are using it incorrectly. Maybe they don't play that much? They still earned there house. Maybe they just don't leave it? Maybe they are private players? Everything you're arguing is trying to change other's playstyles, which is up to them.

I suspect some do to not lose their house. On the other hand they are paying their subs and personally I believe that is all that should be necessary to keep a house but that's me. Relative to how frequently they are used that's hard to say. I know I use mine daily to mend, hang out and spend relaxing time if I'm not at FC or at Rhalgr's which I enjoy as well.

Do you go around lecturing people in real life that they should show consideration for the homeless and not bother getting a house of their own unless they plan to take a roommate/spouse/family/harem/whatever with them?

Yes yes yes! I've been wanting to make this argument a lot lately. Next we should be telling other character's what gear they must equip, what glamours, what dyes etc. Then we'll be forcing server transfers based on skill. You're opening up Pandora's Box if you're going to start telling people how to enjoy a game they pay a monthly fee for.

I don’t own a Med or large, I own a small but in game that’s where I wait for my queues, repair my gear, craft, train my chocobo, garden, even hang out with friends. My house is fully decorated inside and out and is used every day. My fc also has a house but because I have my own personal space why would I opt to always be at a shared space that isn’t personal? I also enjoy RP so yes I do need my private house it’s a part of my enjoyment in the game.
