    I wish squadrons were more like ff tactics advance

    I enjoy tactical games like ff tactics, xcom or fire emblem and I think it would be cool if the squad system here worked more like the system in ff tactics advance. Where you had an entire company of squad members to have different combinations of jobs and even multiples of the same job, you could send them out on individual missions that require specific classes and they’d gain experience and bring back special rewards as well as items that could be used to fulfil requirements for higher level missions with better rewards.

    I think this would be a great way to expand the system in ffxiv. It could easily work with the current system, maybe even make it the next step after we get promoted, the GC was pleased with our efforts with adventurer squadrons so wishes to put us in charge of a larger force.

    Giving us access to say, 20 squad members, access to the individual missions and maybe the ability to upgrade squadron classes to jobs so we’d have more job variety.

    This would give us more options for command missions too, right now we can’t even have one of every class at the same time, let alone doubling up on them. With more squad members we’d be able to mix and match for different setups.

    We can even add the multiplayer element to it, pitting one squadron against another.

    I wish Lord of Verminion was Tactics based instead. Not a 'can you point and click better and faster than other people' game.

    I would love this immensely. Idk how square landed on stuff like LoV as being a popular choice, but a tactics mini-game of the same depth would have me all over it.

    Inb4 SE implements "crafter" Squadrons instead, allowing you to craft things that take 18+ hours.

    I'm sure the class to job upgrade is something that is going to happen in the future, as we can already upgrade our retainer's classes. Variety wise, as for now, the system is so flawed that there's no point on having a DPS other than Archer in your group for dungeon completion purposes.

    I don't see how OP's suggestion would detract from command missions, they basically just asked for a squadron capacity increase and a new mode.

    Maybe it's just me, but I'm wondering if SE will eventually allow 8-mans with the original 3 primals on Hard Mode. Lore-wise, that is impossible unless they have the Echo, but the WoL has shown that they are capable of shielding others from tempering. Game-wise...well, I might find it hilarious when 7 of your squad gets knocked off by Titan's landslide.

    AI needs improvement, but if we get something like Tactics against primals, I'm game for it. But I dunno how that system would work within FFXIV. If I may make a suggestion, I would be happy to have something similar to the battle system that Dragon Age: Inquisition has. I think that pause-and-set-actions thing could work well, especially if SE does end up expanding command missions. Or hey, even with the current dungeons available to us now, I think that system would work great.

    I actually wouldn't mind a tactics minigame being a totally separate feature of its own, letting you collect different units (like how you collect Triple Triad cards). It can have jobs and skills loosely based on the original FFT game, and you start off with one special unit (similar to Ramza and the like, maybe a character based on the player?) and a handful of basic units. There can be static sidequests with their own story to unlock different jobs and provide more units, where you pit your team against an NPC's AI team. There could maybe even be special FATE-like quests that appear periodically in different places that give you a chance to battle against a special AI, letting you obtain another special unit if you're able to beat them. You could even do ranked Arena PVP battles at the Gold Saucer or the different city-states for added fun and goodies. Maybe the teams could be referred to as Clans, kind of like in FFTA2, and the minigame could be called Tactics: Eorzea. Another fun idea for when you have enough units collected would be to have the AI control a subteam you create to pit against your main team if you don't feel like doing quests or PVP. Would it take a lot of work to implement? Very probably. But I think it has lots of potential. Also, we've got FFT music in-game now, so that could easily be used for the battles. Honestly, I'm just workshopping ideas as they come to me.
